Offensive Rationalization
annmason-4484913 October 2016
This is a strange look at how man uses animals seen through the lens of his own excuses. While Martin Clunes proposes to love animals, he gives an extended rationalization for his own raising of sheep and beef for money, followed by lots of footage of butchered animal parts. He claims that his animals have an agreement with him; he will take care of them, then kill them, so it's OK. I wonder how many of his animals have read that contract. It seems to make the actor feel good, but it does not fly.

This film is simply about man's excuses to exploit and use animals, but it's odd, given that the section about the Hindus and their cows clearly shows another way to symbiotically relate to our fellow-creatures.

Mr.Clunes seems to see no contradiction between presenting circus animals, monkeys tied to ropes for gathering coconuts, elephants at the service to handlers, and beef cattle and sheep on their way to slaughter, while at the same time talking about the beauty of such animals and how much.he loves them.

I don't understand this hypocrisy, and have lost respect for Mr.Clunes, for Mr. Clunes doesn't have a clue.
