Lots of fun

Lovely in all possible ways, the nostalgic clip of the massive hit "Never Gonna Give You Up" has that charm quality that could only exist in that era and current imitations will never reach the full scale and dimension that clip and song had. Basically, Rick Astley just singing, dancing, smiling a lot with that charming and contagious boy-next-door look, wearing many different outfits. Along with Astley, there's four dancers (two men and two women) and their precise choreographies.

Simple and safe, filled with energy and to bring a smile to your face. And it was everything that pop culture was about back then (1980's) instead of clips of ridiculously hot pop singer doing sexy scenes with a hot girl, all the overrated appeal we have these days.

Everything you just read is a fact. You haven't been rickrolled! 8/10

"Rick Astley: Never Gonna Give You Up" is a 3.5-minute music video and the performer and title of the song are listed in this "movie" title. It runs for 3.5 minutes and was directed by Simon West. And it is probably among the most known 80s music videos know thanks to the concept of rickrolling. Astley was around the age of 20 when he made this one, but his voice sounds so much older and this is maybe the most entertaining thing about it and also the main reason why it got so popular. But admittedly the song is pretty catchy too, even if Astley is not exactly proving great vocal range here. The music video is nothing special overall I guess. As a whole, this is still a fun watch, even today and I give it a thumbs-up. Worth watching, and even more so listening to. Just don't expect the summary of this video to actually happen in the video because if you do, then you get verbally rickrolled.

Maybe, the secret in this case is its simplicity, the repetitive lyrics and the large, nice, charming smile of Rick Astley. So, charming scene by scene, not by note as the song of the ordinary guy about love , about certitude and about the Prince Charming who gives everything and little more to his young lady.Just a song about ... nothing but perfect for give, in each treat, the atmosphere of 1980, nuance by nuance. It's hard to believe Never Gonna Give you Up is 35 years old but it endures really. It's a catchy song and one that makes he hum it when I need an emotional pick up.

Rick Astley has a seductive voice although he does not implement it efficiently with unpredictable and pensive lyrics. Instead, Rick's style for this song is based on superficial simplicity to appeal to the simpleminded masses. I would like to like this song, but the unintellectual and repetitive lyrics in it ruin it. "Never Gonna Give You Up" has lyrical repetitiveness that makes the chorus lose its effective charm for me. This music video, on the other hand, has good dancing in it.
