"Bonnie Tyler: Total Eclipse of the Heart" is of course the music video for the song in the title by the Welsh artist in the title. Tyler was in her early 30s at that point back in 1983, so this one will have its 35th anniversary next year already. And even if I wasn't even born when this came out, the tune is definitely familiar to me. In a good way. It is a thong that does not just have a catchy chorus, but also shines on other occasions mostly thanks to Tyler's rough voice (and I don't mean rough in a bad way at all). I remember one of my school friends being a fan of her and now I know why. The video side here is probably not really on par with the audio, but it's all good I guess, even if I did not really get the story here and especially not what was up with some of the kids' eyes and what Bonnie had to do with anything. Maybe these shots were taken from a movie. Overall, it may be enough to check out the CD, but watching the video is definitely still better than not checking it out at all. I give it a thumbs-up. Oh yeah one final note: Writer and director Russell Mulcahy from Australia also managed to make a name of himself in the last decades with far more prestigious projects than "only" music videos.

Warning: Spoilers
Russell Mulcahy directs this somewhat surreal video for Bonnie Tyler's classic Total Eclipse of the Heart, one of the best songs of the 80s for sure. For an early 80s video, the visuals are rather stunning, and you wonder how the concept for the video was conceived.
eccentric mix, beautiful song

Bonnie Tyler and a profound eccentric video reminding the life in highschool internat in cold, brutal manner.
Essential, a beautiful song and nice references to wild aspects of an unique age.
For many reasons, just special , from techniqual aspects to the confession of late life after presumed dessilusions. Significant, the voice of unique Bonnie Tyler, proposing a story in which fatigue, desire and provocative youth are together in a strange mix. But , the atmosphere with Gothic nuances, the young men, the end are nice pieces of a generous in significations story and reasonable support for a beautiful, in profound sense, song.
