One of their own

One way or another all the members of the Reagan family on active law enforcement duty get involved in the only plot line for this episode. No separate stories in this particular Blue Bloods.

Chief Dennis Haysbert and his wife are gunned down after leaving Tavern On The Green. As Tom Selleck sadly remarks Haysbert as head of the gang unit was doing one great job which is why he was assassinated. The whole Reagan family feels this one.

The conflict is between brother and sister Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan the ADA. The ADA for her office is sitting on this one to make sure all the 'i's are dotted. Wahlberg feels she's cramping his style and he's not shy about making his feelings known.

Even one of the Reagan in-laws gets into this one and not in a good way.

Everyone's at the top of their game in this Blue Bloods story.

Warning: Spoilers
Another absolutely terrific episode and what makes it so good is that we see the family in conflict following the murders of a police official and his wife.

Danny goes at odds with his sister as it is obvious who ordered the killings, but there isn't enough evidence to indict. Frank and his aides conflict over how far they can go in nabbing the culprits.

This is part 1 of an episode and it sure looks like a tragic ending is about to ensue for one of our minor, but effective cast characters.

The episode was also great because it showed the effects of gangs in creating fear, drawing reasonably good people into them and resulting tragedy from constant gun play and other violence.

Plot moves ahead because....reasons

Warning: Spoilers
Gripping episode with the usual overblown conflict between Danny and Erin. My main issue, these things ruin episodes for me, is the device they used to move the plot along. In the end of the episode, Linda gets shot along with a potential witness getting killed. Somehow they have to make it look like nobody screwed up and let a young man with a gun into the hospital room

How could this part of the plot happen?

Option one: No guard is posted at the front of the room to protect a potential witness. (I might not have noticed this, or accepted it even after multiple viewings)

Option two. A guard is posted, but he is easily lured away from his post by the promise of some pizza! (Linda is even the one who tells him of the tasty treat!!) This is the option they went with.

Which is more realistic? Maybe one, the witness really could be in the hospital without the cops recognizing his potential worth and need to protect.. But they choose two and we aren't supposed to shout at the TV? (Maybe not at the first viewing but on the second?) This ruins the episode for me. (The cop guarding the room was probably transferred to the prison where Epstein offed himself! )
