Excellent presentation, but oddly paced
briancham19945 February 2022
As usual, this animated series from Templar Studios has excellent animation quality that shows the world of Mata Nui in an iconic and bold way. The characters are accurate to their sets, they show a lot of expression despite having static masks, and the battles are dynamic and exciting. However, this series is not as good as the 2002 series because of odd pacing. The second episode is too long and skips over so many Toa. The third episode is the best but it skipped over a lot of the story like how Tahu got the Kanohi Vahi. The way they defeated the Bohrok-Kal was enjoyable to watch though, considering their unique elemental powers.

Exciting and iconic
briancham19945 February 2022
This series uses the same iconic style as the Mata Nui Online Game animations, but put to even better use with lots more suspense. Unlike the bestial Rahi of 2001, the Bohrok are hidden and mysterious, always in the shadows until they can unleash an entire swarm. Since the world of Mata Nui was already developed, the stories could be filled with lots of little character moments that show some familiar faces and new developments, like Nuparu's Boxors. In a parallel with 2001, it focuses on the Matoran and Turaga with little seen of the Toa who are on their own quest. When they do show up, their varied mask powers are a sight to behold!
