Typical Holiday Movie
pandora19887 December 2018
It was sweet and heartwarming. Yes, there were cohesive issues. But, If you just want the holiday feels and you have 90 mins to spare, this is definitely not a waste of time.

The Film Breaks Its Own Rules and Suffers For It
Christmas-Reviewer8 May 2017
BEWARE OF FALSE REVIEWS & REVIEWERS. SOME REVIEWERS HAVE ONLY ONE REVIEW TO THEIR NAME. NOW WHEN ITS A POSITIVE REVIEW THAT TELLS ME THEY WERE INVOLVED WITH THE MOVIE. IF ITS A NEGATIVE REVIEW THEN THEY MIGHT HAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST THE FILM . I HAVE REVIEWED OVER 200 HOLIDAY FILMS. I HAVE NO AGENDA.

A good Samaritan is killed before Christmas and is granted the chance to return to Earth to help a needy soul. The needy soul we find out is her ex-boyfriend who she broke up with on Christmas Eve a year prior to her own passing.

The film quickly establishes its rules and you buy into it however the ending makes zero sense. This harms the movie and it ending makes the whole movie a failure. Had it stayed true to its rules then the film would have been one of the better television films of the past few years.

Enjoyable Christmas Fantasy...TERRIBLE ENDING
docm-3230417 December 2019
This is a hard movie to rate now. I am not a big fan of...let's refer to them as, "holiday romance movies"; preferring the Christmas Classics that became classics because of their Christmas magic. But this one looked like it was worth watching because of the fantasy aspects of the storyline. I was enjoying it (yes, it's not Oscar material...big deal), then BAM !!!!! who the hell came up wih that ending? I have to agree with one of the other reviewers, that the writer is the one who needs to be thrown under the bus. What a last minute disappointment, spoiled the whole movie.

Not good
Sober-Friend8 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This movie has a personality complex. It has no idea what it wants to be. That is sad that the film starts off so well but then goes off the rails fast.

In this film a woman must perform a few good deeds before she can enter heaven. She only has a limited amount of time. If she fails she is stuck in purgatory.

My main problem is that the protagonist is not a bad person. She was helping a man retrieve his dog when she dies.

When she is sent back to earth she is sent to help her old boyfriend. When she reveals himself to him he can't believe that she is not dead. Later on in the story he can no longer see her but his girlfriend/love interest can.

By the time the film ends you will be mad. The ending on the surface is nice but it causes a major loophole that is never disgust.

The writer of this should be thrown under a bus!

A nice story over all with likable characters
alipoopink23 December 2016
A typical straight to Netflix movie but I did quite enjoy this movie over the Christmas build up. The plot was different and the lead characters were likable. The angel in heaven who helps Sarah is a great character and I liked the entry to heaven concept with the iPad.The main male character was likable and his moments with Sarah added some humour. The young boy is great to watch on screen too. The ending was a bit confusing though in that it isn't quite logical to the whole story line but who cares!

A good movie to watch during the day in the lead up to Christmas with a cuppa and a few biscuits

Last 4 Minutes Kills the Movie
naoutland2787023 November 2019
Without spoilers, the last four minutes of the movie UNDOES the message and the good of what was done for Sarah to "GET her wings". It's the Hollywood equivalent of Entitlement-- don't like the ending, the way things turned out, CHANGE EVERYTHING WHETHER IT MAKES SENSE OR NOT! A completely illogical ending! Had she got her wings and moved on-- or hey, even introduce the notion of God "giving second chances via reincarnation", but this ending KILLED the movie entirely. Way to go... NOT.

too cheesy
Kirpianuscus23 December 2021
Many to say but it is far to be a reasonable film. First, it is very, very, very cheesy. Second - it is a huge mess of cliches, bad used, political correct and very childish. Not the last, it can not convince, be poetic, be romance or be eulogy of love.

But three good points are nice tools for not consider see it as waste of time >
  • the church
  • the clothes - between Romanian and Bavarian folk costume - of Sarah
  • the smile of Lindsey Gort.

Okay if brain dead
rcmoore7613716 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie suffers from a lack of vision. There is no way to enter heaven by good works, but by faith alone. Most people want to be good so they can enter heaven, but God won't allow that. Second the film wants you to believe that you should love with your heart and not your head. The problem is love is an action verb, not an emotion.

The major gripe is the entrance to heaven is "the lobby." She didn't make the list because she failed to love. Then goes on like a Pharisee and give out a laundry list of reasons why she should be admitted.

Read your Bibles!!!!

Angel Movie
lydiajp2 October 2023
The writing in this movie was not perfect to say the least but the good parts of it is worth watching. I love that the characters grow and get better, I love how it has faith. This movie had good acting and good direction, only judgment that the writing could've been more real to life but it was fun and that's what movies are for, for us to enjoy ourselves, so I recommend this movie. It's a solid seven because it created love emotions and installed faith in me and it helped me in my own personal life. Please remember to have an open mind when watching this movie, it's more real to life than you may think.

Nearly had a concept for a short film- but ultimately it was immature drifting
iranu-741955 December 2020
Consider that work colleague telling you an involved and elongated joke - halfway along you know you can neither care nor be amused at the conclusion. Imagine a child's story they wrote for you. It starts well, with some colorful personalies, but as they're a child, eventually the story has dragons, dead-ends, side jokes and mentions of snacks and cartoon characters because they lost concentration... and they're a child after all. This film has a one-idea script and a cast working hard to sustain the energy levels. But eventually, the juvenile writer who was told to "wrap the story up" and the juvenile that commissioned the script, came to the inevitable confused and desperate ending, to a confused and desperate little film.

Ok, no Academy Awards, but very nice Christmas romance
cwg2005a15 December 2018
Sometimes I think reviewers ignore the genre of film they are reviewing: this is a TV-Christmas movie, with thwarted romance, second chances ... all the plot items you expect when tuning in Hallmark or ION in December. Two things set this apart: the characters are likeable, or course, but there is no "bad" boyfriend or girlfriend here. Secondly, the ending, which I will no spoil, was completely unforeseen and done very well. By the way, the heaven gate-keeper was also done really well. Look, everyone knows they are making a cheesy film, and it takes work to play these characters "straight." So I applaud the actors and director. Bottom line: I liked it.

What were they thinking
dontakeitpersonal30 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Pretty straight forward story: woman dies, as an angel comes back to fix some thing before she can move on. BUT SHE DOESN'T MOVE ON DOES SHE! No even worse after everything we went through throughout the whole movie, she just comes back too.....live a better life? Again a movie where the writers... wrote this with a crate a whiskey. Let's call the movie "GET her wings " but then at the end a 'twist' ... not dead! Even the message/moral of the story is all over the place. I dont even get it anymore. Technically as we went back in time to undo her dead, didn't we then undo all the work to get that other couple together? If it wasn't for the last 5 min of the movie it would have been a normal b- Christmas movie.

Very, very dumb ending
rhovis7310318 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I'm sorry, but what I could have rated as a "7" dropped to a 2 after about the last five minutes. With that ending, it turned into logical, theological, romantic, and dramatic crap!

It was just totally impossible for her to die?? She got her wings, and heaven is supposed to be a joyous place (where EVERY joy and emotion we have on earth can certainly be felt and understood in heaven). THEN, no,God couldn't send her back, but this idiot gatekeeper was allowed to on her own! AND, she goes back to the same exact community and church (final shot), with the exact same body! Don't you think her former boyfriend and everyone else would have recognized her?? A minor thing they could have done, which would bring it up to a 4, was to at least given her a different body. The way they did it destroyed three major religions that believe in God (Christian, Judaism and Islam; and, of course, Christmas is only about Christianity).

Unrealistic in so many ways
the_doofy26 March 2018
You have a attractive 20-22 year old Melano woman with a 10-12 year old son who talks and analyzes like a graduate student in Psychology. The woman has a nice car and a nice house in a nice neighborhood, and emphasize how important it is for her and her son to have a stable father / husband. No background on how she came about to be in her situation.

--the ending is very predictable, but we can let this slide since its a christmas movie.

--There was nothing in the acting that stood out, much of the support cast were below average in acting in my opinion, the primary actors were ok, not great. The black boy character was absolutely ridiculous, given his age, with his man dialogue.

Odd
Jackbv1232 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not a fan of the heaven sent theme. This is not typical for that theme. For one thing, as several reviewers have already said, she fails once and has to go back but to help someone different. And the last portion of the movie is really different, or as some have said they think it's a bad ending.

This movie makes fun of all the heaven sent movies. Sometimes it's funny. Sometimes it falls flat.

There were several things I didn't like about this movie well before the ending. Heaven's ethics are pretty messed up and its rules even more so. Not just the ending, but the ending is the worst example.

Sarah appears to be a good person and she has her moments, but she's selfish too. We find out that she broke up with Jordan on Christmas Eve and never really got a good reason. At times she seems more interested in her powers as an angel than her mission and for most of the story, her only real mission is to avoid purgatory.

The relationship stories are rushed and left me feeling like they were messed up. For example, Jordan sulks for a year over Sarah dumping him and then he does the same to Amanda and maybe worse because he betrayed Mason too. Melanie Liburd never really convinced me that Amanda loved Jordan, either before being dumped or after the miracle. If you enjoy romance movies to get caught up in the central relationship, the curveball of switching the female lead leaves you confused.

As to the ending - I wondered how the movie was going to give an HEA to all three main characters, and this genre of movie really demands it. I kind of figured it would have to break the previously stated rules. So the ending didn't surprise me at all. I have mixed feelings as to how I feel about that. I wanted Sarah to have her earthly HEA, but that seems selfish and short sighted.

Thought it's Be Good, but Really Wasn't...
jaholl21 December 2018
Had this not been a comedy and instead, a well-written drama, it would have been much better. I DID however, laugh out loud at the character Daphne, who played an angel at the registry when Sara first goes up to Heaven. Not only was that part made for her, but she was excellent in it. Too bad the other actors failed. Jordan (characters name) wasn't very good, not did I care at all. I stopped the movie and went to look for something else to watch. Kudos to the actress who played Daphne. It's worth it to watch that segment just for her and her alone.

Sarah Wings It and It's a Good Movie
gehewe7 January 2018
Four excellent performances: Sarah (Lindsey Gort), Jordan (Derek Theler), Daphne Angel (Kathleen Rose Perkins) and the boy Mason (Caleel Harris). It was a fun movie and I wouldn't mind watching it again. The story got a bit convoluted/strange when Sarah came back and only the girl friend could see her. I liked the ending (happy surprise) whereas some of the reviews already posted complained. I especially loved the part of Daphne the Angel (some good lines and laughs). Also loved the boy who reminded me of the young Gus on Psych. My wife did dose near the end on the part where only the girl friend could see Sarah. Definitely a lull there but an uplift at the end.

Tablets and old programmer in 'lobby'
pkpera8 February 2023
OMG ! Lot of reviews here is shocked by 'bad' ending. Well, what I saw from the beginning was bad. After longer white light she appears ... where ? In some 21-st Century equipped (with tablets and like) 'lobby' + bureaucratic staff . At begin of it I thought that it is some kind of spoof . Was not it. Well, could they just use some more advanced computers, displays ? Like what we saw some 20 years ago in some movies - holographic screen for instance ? Nope, and I'm sure that low budget was important factor in it. But imagination level was that too.

Then, what we saw from ghost, pardon angel was more like some superpower skills - making snow just like that - oh yeah, that will help people to realize important things in life, relationships ... I could give it 1 star just because all it above, but that would not be how some angel would do it. There were couple good ideas, scenes, and love is most important ... Ehm, here mean not love for the money (what is in this years ...) but love for the people, including future ones.

OMG so FUN!
raybartlett27 December 2015
This movie was fun from the very beginning, and though there was some fear it would fall apart along the way, luckily it didn't ever lose steam. It keeps pushing right along with lots of great humour and a bit of romance too. You gotta love a movie that not only steals a scene from another movie, leaving the viewers saying out loud, that that scene is a rip off, when lo' and behold one of the characters actually admits they are scene stealing from the said movie! So fun! So refreshing.

The lead actor looking a bit like Patrick Swayze and a Ghost being central to the story line just added a bit more fun to the already wonderful story. There is so much unpredictable stuff in this film it all adds up to a wonderful sitting.

It joyfully steals from plenty of movies that came before but with it all being tongue in cheek, it's all so worth it. Yes, I loved this movie. Merry Christmas Sarah!

All Dogs Go To Heaven
poohbear90035 August 2018
I loved this movie! The witty humor was so cute and funny. I loved the part where she says "Hey wait a minute, how come he gets to go in? The lady says "don't you know, all dogs go to heaven". Lol!! The only thing I didn't like was the girl her old boyfriend likes. I couldn't understand why Sarah wanted them to be together when she still had feelings for him.

All dogs go to heaven
poohbear90035 August 2018
I loved this movie! The humor cracked me up! I love when Sarah says wait why does he get to go in? The lady says don't you know, all dogs go to heaven. Lol!! The only thing I didn't like was the girl she was trying to get hooked up with her old boyfriend. She seemed fake and not really into the guy.

Honestly this movie helped me self reflect and realized why none of my past relationships worked. Or just in general how I overthink everything and forget to let go and live in love. Thank you whoever created this movie.

In Bottom half of the ION Christmas films
cwg2005a27 November 2016
First, we all can agree that the Hallmark / ION Christmas films are pretty much the same theme, although wrapped around different stories: a cute guy and a pretty girl overcome obstacles and find true love.

This film has one variance: there are two cute girls who need love, and one, unfortunately, is dead. I kept wondering how odd it is that the cute girl can't find a guy at the end, but then she, like Clarence, brings two others together to "get her wings."

There is a nice, emotional twist at the end. I will ignore that to get to the point here, which is that this is slower and less energetic than most of these cheesy Christmas films (all of which I watch each year and all of which I am glad I watch). The acting is not up to the level of most of the others (with some exceptions, especially Perkins, Liburd and Gort, each of whom overcome some really cheesy lines).

If you just want a time-consuming Christmas film, then this one fits the bill. IF you are looking for one of the better films in this series, I suggest "Christmas in Vermont" or "Christmas Kiss."

Angels we have heard
adamjohns-425757 November 2020
Hot, Hot, Hot! The lead guy in this is soooo hot and when we first meet him, he is scantily clad.

I like this film. It is a variation on the old classic "It's A Wonderful Life", but closer to its alleged predecessor "Unlikely Angel" starring Dolly Parton. After her death, Sarah is sent back to earth to earn her wings, where she is reunited with the very sexy Jordan and she has to work out what she needs to do for him, to enable her entry in to Heaven. It is a romance, but not necessarily the one you would expect.

It's not OTT with Christmas as a theme, but it's a nice little story and I don't know if I mentioned it, but the guy who plays Jordan is super fit! (Derek Theler).

Follow me for more shallow reviews that focus on the sexy men. Sometimes I think that it's the only reason the films score so high.
