A Jarring Episode (God Help the Punster)
Hitchcoc14 March 2023
Nearly all episodes begin with the discovery of the body. This is one of the best. A young man is being baptized in the river. The minister lays him back, but when he comes back a body is attached to his back. It is utterly hilarious. The body is that of a woman. After the discovery of her identity it turns out she was a middle aged woman with an obsession. She collected cookie jars and they became her entire life. Soon Booth and Aubrey are meeting other collectors and like so many some are borderline crazy. A couple of developments. Since Booth and Brennan are apart, Brennan has begun to show a human side, a vulnerability. Booth continues denying he has a problem and ignoring the fact that what he did was meaningless.

Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?

Warning: Spoilers
I'd say that this episode was good! I think all of the storylines were done well and there weren't any that I wasn't interested in.

The case this week was fun. Of course, it touched on addiction because that's what Booth is dealing with right now and it allowed us and the characters to draw parallels. I thought it was so ridiculous that they judged a 20 year old for living at home, god forbid! And she was going to college so she wasn't some bum she was just a kid trying to save some money. I also appreciated that Brennan worn a face mask when she cut into the bone because if we learned anything from The Graft in the Girl episode it is that bone dust can mess you up.

I am finally cool with the character of Jessica. I think when she was first introduced her energy was just a bit much for me. But now, I'm really vibing with her character. I also love her and Aubrey and I am 100% here for Bones and Booth 2.0.

I was a little worried at the beginning because it didn't seem like Booth wanted to put in the work and that was frustrating. Like you have been kicked out of your house with the threat of losing you wife, daughter, and unborn child and you aren't doing everything in your power to get them back? But at the end of the episode we saw him talking to his gamblers anonymous group so I think there is some hope.

Best part: Aubrey and Jessica having dinner together at the Founding Fathers after the case, very Bones and Booth of them

Worst part: a little bit of a lack of drive on Booth's part.
