It's some years since I first saw this, but I remembered it incredibly well, it's every bit as good as I recalled. This first part is a pretty captivating watch, Clunes is first rate as Conan Doyle, he is mournful, depressed, inquisitive, first rate.
A terrific story, I was stunned to see that this was inspired by real life events, it's full of curious events, and some big characters. Stunning production values throughout, it looks absolutely incredible.
