I think this episode is fantastic and definitely deserves better score!

Seriously, why do you rate this episode only 7 points out of 10? Even though the actor playing Eddie sucks at the end, it still is a good show overall. It's funny, of course, and absolutely educational at the same time. I am a fan of comedy and I have watched a lot of classic shows like Modern Family, I assure you that FOB is underestimated. I think this show would be successful. Also, FOB is not only just a comedy played in America, but also is a represent of the awareness of Chinese culture to American. It is important not only for Chinese, but also for all Asian-American because this is a definitely good way for American to get to know the Asian culture. PS: There ARE lots of people from TAIWAN think that they are not Chinese! And they indeed are crazy about fighting for their independence, and they seem pretty mad about characters in this show representing themselves as Chinese.....

Good episode showing Chinese tradition and culture while maintaining a sense of humor!

This episode shows the difficulties of a family, trying to show it's three children about the roots and identity as a Chinese American. It's done very well, always maintaining it's sense of humor while teaching a culture which many viewers know little about. The show is a fresh of breath air among a long list of family shows going back to the 90's, from Full House, to Cosby, Married with Children,Sister Sister, George Lopez. Having a family show representing Asian(Chinese culture) is very new and welcomed! Teaches many about a culture which will have a bigger role to play in the 21century. Favorite character has to be the mother, She's tough! But funny at the same time!

I gave 6/10 because of the ignorance and lack of effort in distinguishing between Taiwanese and Chinese identity. I think the show is great, since its finally representing 'Asian' culture in a way that immigrants can relate to. However, I'm not surprised of the stereotype of American's lack of knowledge in other countries outside of US. There's not even a careful consideration when the producers decide to touch on the sensitivity and controversial issue of Taiwan and China. Since the show is supposedly "based on an inspirational true story" of Eddie Huang's life- and his family has identified themselves as "Taiwanese" - shouldn't the producers give a thorough research first before actually presenting a national Chinese flag in this episode? Did Eddie Huang says he is from Mainland China? An ROC flag would be more realistic. And realistically speaking, its absolutely rare for a Taiwanese to hold up a Chinese flag. Seriously, if you guys don't know and don't care about Taiwan's political stance in this touchy issue (which is reaching its peak of tension between these two region), might as well change their identity to Chinese nationality and delete the term 'Taiwanese' in other forums/sites (though it will just deviate from the true story of Eddie Huang even more, which the show was was based on). Producers should learn to have a sense of respect and implement some cross-cultural knowledge and awareness before producing a show that is based on cultural neglect instead of cultural intelligence and maturity.

Extremely insulting episode for everyone regardless of birthplace

There is nothing worse in the modern world than ethnic pride. Ethnic pride is always misplaced and 100% meaningless and should never be embellished as a good thing. This episode is why I will not allow this show in my home again. Very bad and very insulting to anyone who believes that people need to behave intelligently rather than mechanically like retards. Next time, try promoting cooperation rather than reasons for separation because we have so much of that already it is the last thing we need. This type of garbage is what is tearing our country apart and has done worse to other countries around the globe. Its no different than religious pride and frankly when used on something baseless like religion or ethnicity it is simply bigotry. I think we had enough of this around the world.
