The Grimoire
10 February 2015 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

It all starts with a journal of witchcraft written by John Dee, one of Queen Elizabeth's most trusted subjects. Almost immediately, a cloaked figure steals it with gruesome effects on the employees of an Auction House.

Meanwhile Henry's back, apparently hiding in a motel run by a disabled woman and her son. Henry seems to be considering if he wants to continue being an evil warlock or not.

Using 21st century "magic" the image of the Action House assailant is recovered from the security cameras, and of course Katrina knows who it is.

This whole episode seems to be about how people who had good intentions got sidetracked from their purpose, ending up being just plain bad. We know Katrina is a powerful witch, but she depends on Nature for her power, where this new bad guy "Solomon Kent" (Johnathon Schaech) depends on magic that requires killing people for it to work, he had not always been that way, but an obsession caused him to make a mistake, which eventually became two mistakes, which eventually caused the entire Salem Witch Trials, which as depicted here were merely a way to cover up all of his misdeeds and mistakes.

Kent wants this Grimoire of John Dee, at first we think it is to resurrect a woman he accidentally killed. But it is worse than that, much worse...

And his needling of Katrina has an effect on her as well.

Captain Irving shows up, back in the picture. He seems OK, but we still can't shake that feeling that something is out of place. He even helps Abby and Ichabod form a plan on how to stop Kent, but Abby and Ichy don't see his true intentions for helping them.

Meanwhile a gang of hoodlums helps Henry decide what he is and what he will do.
