For a few blissful moments, it seems like the show is being brave enough to admit that Casey's death was Brax's fault.Sadly, it's never going to be brave enough to do that:Instead it's saying that Casey's death was his own fault. As a result, the scenes that follow, including another visit to Casey's grave (thankfully without a shot of that tombstone with the wrong date on), fall extremely flat and it's hard to care about the subtle cliffhanger ending.
Maddy's situation leads to a nice scene between her and Roo, while other characters don't come off entirely well (Alf and Roo's bodyguard act is excessive, as is Spencer's temper and Oscar's neglect). It does however lead to another establishing of the bond between Maddy and Oscar, which gives her the strength to go back to Nate.
There's also some stuff between Matt and Sasha, which leaves neither of them nor Leah looking particularly good.Leah comes off as dictatorial and slightly hypocritical, Sasha as snobby and Matt as presumptuous. And haven't we got past him winding up Spencer?
