One for Mr. Ripley

AS BROADCAST OVER the Smithsonian Network Cable Channel, his is just one episode in a nature series. Once again we must have to plea ignorance for having neither been aware of this program nor of this Smithsonian Channel.

IT IS ONE of many nature films that concentrate on the troubles in our Natural World. It quite different than most any other we've ever seen. It is for that reason that it probably much more influential.

IN SUMMARIZING THE picture, the crew took some months (or even longer)in staking out a top rated hotel in Zambia. This is one place that appears to be most luxurious and commands a fairly wealthy clientèle. This alone is not so unusual, surprising or unique. But the hotel has a most unusual sort of "Floor Show" as a most unique attraction.

THE SINGLE MOST unusual feature is that they have a family that makes regular trips there in a yearly fashion. The loyal family in question is one of African Savanna elephants.

ALTHOUIGH THE FILM'S objective is to report on the status of our planet's wildlife in its struggles with destruction of habitat, human encroachment and the great problem of poaching for the ivory from their tusks.

AS FAR AS one can tell, this movie succeeded in touching all of the bases in educational content, maintain audience interest and driving home the message.
