Strong Case for Truth and Reconciliation
simonesimian13 December 2020
The United States has yet to come to terms with our flawed history and our two original sins: Genocide and brutality towards Native Peoples - and Slavery. Dodging Bullets eloquently documents how historical trauma haunts the descendants of original Americans. I hope that open-minded people of all political persuasions will view this film and learn from it. It should be required viewing in schools; and for all citizens who have even a shadow of a moral compass. We cannot heal our wounded nation until we all come to terms with the content of this moving documentary.

Important Film to Build Empathy and Understanding
sifary28 October 2020
Dodging Bullets not only clearly explains the concept of historical trauma, but illustrates it with many moving stories. An important film that not only fills gaps in conventionally taught history, but builds empathy and understanding for the Native American experience. While some of the stories are heartbreaking, the film ends with positive guidance for resilience and healing. The film is helpfully broken into segments to facilitate the discussions that we as a country desperately need to have. Highly recommended viewing for those in social services in particular, and really all Americans in general.

Informative and Emotional
orange_9012 October 2020
Dodging Bullets is both incredibly informative and emotional. It clearly explains a rarely discussed topic in historical trauma, and does so through the Indigenous experience in what is now the United States. I could feel the weight of that trauma that the featured people carried with them, but I could also feel their strength in their determination to fight for better. As a White citizen, my first step is always to educate myself and listen. Dodging Bullets was an entertaining way for me to do so on an important topic.
