I was all set to dislike this modern version on the classic series, but it's largely proved me wrong.
What I liked here was the fact that while of course time is spent on the launches of the Thunderbird craft, this episode is largely character driven, with a good little plot involving Gordon (doing more than he ever did in the original show!), Lady Penelope and Parker.
As much as I liked the original show I did find it slow, with lots of time setting up the crisis before the cavalry would arrive in the second half, this modern show has to be pacier with its shorter run time, and is all the better for it.
While fans of the original show might find the hinting of a Gordon/Lady P romance a little jarring when it was Alan who liked her previously, this is a good episode overall.
