I'm still waiting.

This is a goofy documentary that doesn't answer its own question. In fact it more or less comes across as promoting Facebook. There is no research on its effect on people nor is there any exposition on bad experiences.

really great internet film

I really liked this film. It really made me think. I didn't use Facebook until last year. I got it because my girlfriend was on it (we're broken up now lol). Watching this movie made me realize that Facebook has changed our society. Especially that interview with the girl who is always on her phone. I hope I'm never like that lol.

The best part was the pink lady. She was a really interesting person. Maybe she should have her own documentary? I'd watch it. That part really made me think about how changed our society has become from Facebook.

After watching this film I deleted my Facebook. Now I only use snapchat and twitter and vine. No more Facebook for me. Really great film, everyone should see it asap.

Really Interesting!

As a father of two whose kids are just about to reach "facebook age," this documentary was really informative. It really has touched all of our lives and this movie is proof! There's so much good stuff in here, I can't recommend it enough. I've never really used facebook (it was before my time, haha!), but I feel like I've learned so much in these few short ninety minutes, maybe I should start! Probably not though. This movie really made me think about how social media has completely changed our world in new and strange ways, ways we never could have imagined.

I especially loved the crazy cast of characters that Brant meets on his journey. It's fascinating that so many people could use the same piece of internet software, and it has so many different effects on their lives. Some of them have been improved, some of them not so much! But that's really how life works, isn't it? And that brings us back to what really makes this movie so great. It's not about Facebook, it's about life. And how our lives are now filtered through Facebook, changing them is fascinating ways. I will tell all my friends about this movie just as soon as I leave the house in the morning. Maybe I should be on Facebook? Who knows!

Oh wow! Great Facebook Film Here!
johnbirch-955872 November 2015
I just stopped watching this great film and I had to leave a review on my favorite movie website here on the internet movie database. I was astounded by the sheer quality of the filmmaking on display throughout this film, "Why Am I Not On Facebook," and here is exactly why.

This is the kind of film that all of the kids need to see, and their parents as well. The filmmaker really goes to some strange places and meets some strange people in his quest to discover the beating heart of the thing that is Facebook. Every character is completely memorable, even the guy who you can't see his face because he is a robber. Most memorable of all is the host, who goes to seem deep, dark places inside himself and comes out unscathed.

Get a facebook so you can see this movie and understand it, then delete facebook!

a good film

I really enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to anyone. The host, Brant, is really charismatic and is a great host. I loved following him into the "belly of the beast" so to speak, as he interviewed all the colorful characters whose lives have been touched by the internet. I myself only touched a computer for the first time last year, and this internet place is terribly frightening for me. Mr. Pinvidic's film has been a lighthouse in these dark times, leading me through the cold, unforgiving waters of Facebook. Maybe I could be interviewed in the next movie? Oh, would I have some stories to tell, stories that would chill you to your very bones.

With many clever animated sequences and a cast of colorful characters, "Why I'm Not On Facebook" is a must-watch for anyone interested in this subject.

A Top Notch Doc
emmettbrown-514672 November 2015
With Facebook invading so many of our lives, it was high time that a film came around that really analyzed the trend. I'm honestly surprised this movie wasn't made sooner! A great, funny documentary from a promising new filmmaker.

The movie follows its director, Brant, as he decides whether he should let his young son join the popular social network, Facebook. Along the way he interviews all sorts of interesting people and celebrities, who each have an new perspective on Facebook. Brant never judges his subjects, even the more "out-there" characters, which really helps. Brant also focuses on himself, as he asks himself if the problem isn't with Facebook, it's with him. The end of the movie involves some major soul searching, and it really adds an emotional climax to the whole thing. Definitely watch this film if you want to eat Facebook with your whole family.

Great Documentary

I wasn't sure about this film when I first watched it. Would it be outdated? Would it come across as the humorous "Old Man Yells At Cloud" joke from that classic Simpson's episode? Would it feel like it should have been made several years ago, when Facebook was actually new and gamechanging? Well, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised! With its colorful cast of characters, this films weaves a breathtaking story that really hits home how Facebook has become intertwined in our lives.

The film revolves around its director, Brant, as he explores for himself this crazy phenomenon known as "social media." We follow him as he meets all sorts of interesting people, each of whom has a different take on Facebooks and its societal effects. This in turn creates a multi-faceted picture of the overall culture of Facebook, and we see just how it magnifies and influences humanity's pre-existing faults and idiosyncrasies.

is this a quality film? yes!!!!!

I had just been talking with my young son about starting a Facebook account, when I spied this documentary in my iTunes recommendations. I watched it right away, and boy did it make me think! I loved all of the funny little animations the movie used to bring its information to life. This movie is full of funny little stories about Facebook, and it even has a bit of heart at the end. I loved this little movie by the end, which says something, since I had expected it to be The Social Network, and when I realized it was not the movie I had expected I became enraged to the point of blindness for several hours. But after watching it I was glad I had spent my hard-earned money on this quality film, filled with so many funny characters. Watch this when you get a chance!
