The Hollywood Reporter has just learned that Primetime Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown has entered talks with 20th Century Fox to join the cast of Shane Black's upcoming reboot/sequel of The Predator. He joins a cast headlined by Boyd Holbrook (Logan), who will star as an ex-Marine. The supporting players consist of Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Keegan-Michael Key (Keanu), and Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse). Black is directing with a script he co-wrote with Fred Dekker (Edge). Details on Brown's role were fairly vague, but if his deal closes, he'll portray a government agent that will throw Holbrook's character in jail at the start of the picture, but then later recruit him when the Predators strike. Both Rhodes & Key will also play ex-Marines, while Munn will be playing a scientist. Brown currently stars on the hit NBC family drama series This Is Us and is probably best known to audiences »
Day two of the Television Critics Association's winter press tour cable panels (Day 10 overall) brought the usual variety including a snack break with puppies, an abnormally good-humored Robert De Niro, Hank Azaria doing voices for Brockmire and Los Pollos Hermanos chicken hand-delivered by Giancarlo Esposito. It also featured Jude Law discussing his new knowledge of The Young Pope memes and Tiffany Haddish telling us about the kittens from Keanu. Which of those things made my Highlight Quotes for the day? Just yesterday, news broke that Moonlight actor Trevante Rhodes had boarded Shane Black’s reboot of The Predator, and now THR has word on yet another casting addition: Key and Peele co-creator and co-star Keegan-Michael Key.
20th Century Fox is still pretty tight-lipped about this reboot, which Black hopes to begin filming this winter. According to the new report, Key will play “a man who teams up with [Boyd] Holbrook and Rhodes to fight the creatures.” Previous reports cited that Holbrook and Rhodes were playing ex-marines, while X-Men: Acocalypse actress Olivia Munn is also on board as a scientist.
This will be the biggest genre project on Key’s resume. Apart from his run on the aforementioend acclaimed Comedy Central series, he also starred in Fargo‘s first season, as well as recent films Tomorrowland and of course, Keanu.
The Predator is currently scheduled for release on February 9th 2018. »

The Predator franchise has been quiet for a while. 2010's Predators was modestly successful in terms of box office and reception, but it wasn't quite enough to totally reinvigorate the series. That is (hopefully) about to change as director Shane Black gears up to shoot the latest in the series, simply titled The Predator. As the movie races toward production, the cast is starting to take shape and the latest addition comes in the form of comedian Keegan-Michael Key.
The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that the Key half of the sketch comedy duo Key and Peele is in final negotiations for a role in The Predator. Keegan-Michael Key may seem like an unlikely, if very welcome addition to the ensemble cast, which is starting to take shape. It was just announced that Moonlight star Trevante Rhodes will also be joining the cast, alongside Olivia Munn and Logan star Boyd Holbrook. »
Casting is really beginning to heat up for Shane Black’s The Predator. Barely 24 hours have passed since we brought you the news that Trevante Rhodes, one of the many breakout stars from Barry Jenkins’ excellent Moonlight, had secured a role and now, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Keegan-Michael Key fancies his chances against the titular, grotesque alien.
The Keanu star, who is perhaps best known for his Comedy Central’s hit comedy series Key and Peele, has enlisted alongside Boyd Holbrook (Logan) and Rhodes to lock horns with the titular creature, indicating that his mysterious character hails from a military background. Neither Fox nor THR disclosed any further details on his on-screen persona, but we do know that Key rounds out an ensemble that also boasts X-Men: Apocalypse star Olivia Munn, who recently landed the part of an unnamed scientist. Shane Black is directing from a script by Fred Dekker. John Davis, Joel Silver, and Lawrence Gordon — who produced the original — are producing. Fox has already slotted “The Predator” for a Feb. 9, 2018 opening.
Plot details are under wraps other than the usual plot of an extraterrestrial monster facing off against earthlings. “Narcos” star Holbrook replaced Benicio del Toro to become the first major casting, announced in October, and Rhodes came on board this week.
The original was directed by John McTiernan and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, and Jesse Ventura as commandos attempting to rescue hostages while being stalked in a jungle in Central America by a fearsome extra-terrestrial, played by Kevin Peter Hall.

In a change to their usual Christmas tradition, Ned (Bryan Cranston), the boss of a struggling printing company and overprotective but loving dad and his family visit his daughter at Stanford, where he meets his biggest nightmare: her well-meaning but socially awkward Silicon Valley billionaire boyfriend, Laird (James Franco). As per comedy tropes, a rivalry develops between Ned and Laird when the former finds himself lost in the high-tech world of the latter and learns that Laird is about to pop the question…
Writer/director John Hamburg has an interesting career to say the least. The writer behind Meet the Parents and I Love You, Man (a film I revist at least once a month); Hamburg can writetruly hilarious – and touching – comedies, »
