I have a soft spot for Icelandic composers. Jóhann Jóhannsson really made something special here. I never thought I would see penguins in Super 8 quality combined with music like this. But it popped up on Mubi and I figured "I enjoyed the cinematography of The Lighthouse, this looks nice too". Though it only has the sea and B&W film in common, I really enjoyed this. It's atmospheric and calming. I watched this in bed one afternoon, I fell asleep about 7 minutes in. Had a great nap. Woke up after 20min and rewound to the 7 minute mark and enjoyed the rest of the film. Would recommend for a peaceful afternoon.

I have no idea how Jóhannsson came up with the idea of destructed penguin opera. It sounds dreadfully beautiful. It is probably not Jóhannsson's intention to deliver such sentiment.... but the penguins are too cute Insert Heartbreaking Emoji
