- Being a musician in Brazil, when I moved to Vancouver I was amazed by music life in the city, the range of artists, music styles and musical instruments is amazing. I'm completely sure that this diversity helps Vancouver to be this multicultural and welcoming city. The main goal with The Saints is to know more about expectations, experiences, dreams, lifestyle, jut sharing one day in a street performer life. The Saints it's a documentary about street performers and their relationship with the music. Sometimes these musicians would change the spotlight and attention of thousands just to have the appreciation of one. One touched by their song, a song that could change an entire day bringing relief and good feelings. Money is not the priority but it could be a consequence because that is why these saints march on the streets everyday, to bring you joy and peace with their music.—Roger Fires.
- Each passerby had a quick choice to make, one familiar to commuters in any urban area where the occasional street performer is part of the cityscape: Do you stop and listen? This was extracted from the article published in 2005 in The Washington Post about the experiment involving the world famous violinist Joshua Bell. Used to venues with the lowest tickets varying from $100-$180, Joshua played at the Subway Station in Washington City for 43 minutes to 1.097 passersby and made $32,17. Would you stop if you knew who he was?
Buskers do the same routine, sometimes 6 hours straight to play covers or original songs to get your attention. A frustrating exemplified like the musicians at Preservation Hall in New Orleans back in the sixties when they got so tired of playing When the Saints Go Marching In that the sign announcing the fee schedule ran $1 for standard requests, $2 for unusual requests, and $5 for "The Saints". Saints isnt a bad way to name these musicians.
