A Pathé film in which two brothers love the same girl. She favors one which arouses the jealousy of the other and when they go hunting, the favored brother is lowered over a cliff, the jealous one attempts to cut the rope, but the girl arrives in time to prevent it. To save the man she loves she swears to renounce him. The scene when the lovers meet and she turns him away is good. He goes home to his mother and the girl writes a letter to the brother saying that she prefers death to dishonor and is going to plunge into the water, when the man arrives and prevents. He has promised his mother to give her up and together they go back to the other brother where he declares that he will interfere no longer. Like all the Pathé films the details are worked out with extreme care and the acting is beyond criticism. – The Moving Picture World, May 8, 1909
