Just after Mr. Selfridge's plane touches down at the opening of the episode, we see a newsreel cameraman with a hand-cranked camera shooting footage of the landing. He is cranking the camera backwards (counterclockwise).
The episode opens with newsreel footage of Mr. Selfridge's airplane landing in a field outside of London. The scene is accompanied by a 1930s-style newsreel narration about his business trip. The first narrated newsreels were introduced in 1928 (by Fox Movietone in the US and Pathé News in France), nine years after this episode takes place. A title card with the information would have been historically accurate.
