The movie is very interesting and I liked very much the way to present the female beauty obsession which is present in some mothers in Venezuela.

In the movie, "3 Bellezas", director Carlos Caridad Montero scrutinizes the female beauty obsession in Venezuela. Perla is a Venezuelan mother and a former beauty queen who is obsessed with having her daughter to also be a beauty queen. The beauty contests in Venezuela have been a common way to start a career as an actress, a model or even a politician. In facts, many Venezuelan females use plastic surgery to improve their beauty without considering possible health problems. I consider that the movie is very interesting. I liked very much the way to present the female beauty obsession which is present in some mothers in Venezuela. The movie presents the problem without pretending to give a solution. The idea is to motivate the discussion of the different viewpoints. The performances of the actress were very good. The quality of the film is very good. The film got my attention from the beginning to the end.

A valuable insight into an important cultural phenomenon, a must see!

This movie deals with a very interesting and universal subject: What we would do when we believe our choices are limited but become a celebrity through being picked the prettiest in a contest. The story unfolds in a 3rd world country, that in 1955 scored its very own "cinderella story". Carmen Susana Duijm Zubillaga, a poor girl who was spotted by one of the producers of the Miss Venezuela pageant, and mentored to participate. she ended up to her own surprise, being the first Venezuelan woman to ever win the Miss World pageant, and soon after, invited to Paris and the USA to become a model and actress. Ever since, the taste for winning remained, and producers got better at spotting talents: preparing them and even making them. Under the direction of Osmel Sousa, Venezuela has accumulated more international pageant titles than any other country, including seven Miss Universe winners, six Miss World winners, six Miss International winners and two Miss Earth winners. All this "success" had not gone unpunished, and that is why this movie fills the need to examine the pageants as a cultural phenomenon, and brings to light a interesting discussion. the movie is well done and easy to watch.
