Tony Gilroy was paid $5 million for twelve weeks work on script-revising and re-shoots, especially on the third act. He also recommended to the producers to hire his brother, editor John Gilroy, to edit the re-shot footage. None of the first two trailer footage made it into the final film. See more »
When the rebels land on Scarif, their ship gets checked by a guy, a black Stormtrooper, and two normal Stormtroopers. Then they're ambushed and knocked out, but Jyn, Cassian, and K-2SO come out. There's people watching the ship, how did they not notice the complete change in who came in and out? I guess you could argue Cassian and the guy looked similar enough no one paid close attention, but there was no Imperial droid entering the ship, and minus two stormtroopers seems way too obvious. Even if no one was paying attention, Cassian looked like he hadn't shaved or bathed for 3-4 days. Have you ever seen a scruffy Imperial officer or soldier? See more »
Quick, spoiler-less thoughts from Hollywood Premiere Attendee
Rogue One was quite awesome, and quite different from the movies that came before. It was frightening, tense, very dark, VERY dirty (literally: maybe Mon Mothma was the only character without a layer of filth make-upped onto her face. And she looked so much like Mothma from ROTJ!) Some differences were somewhat striking, but overall it absolutely felt like a Star Wars movie should feel. Lots of familiar faces to see, super tense and exciting and beautiful. I was SO fortunate to be able to attend the premiere at the Pantages Saturday night, and can't wait to see it again Thursday night! There's never been a better time to be a Star Wars fan!
