The Elevator of Consciousness is Joachim Levy's very first film all shot hand held using a vintage Arri 16S Camera. Rumor has it, it was so cold during the shoot on Coney Island in mid-February 1999, to stay warm, actor Emanuel Ancorini kept running and exercising all day long as the film was mostly shot outdoors. The director built a full scale elevator using movie set boards that had to be pulled by hand. The movie can only be screened with its original 16mm film and sound print.
