Original & Hopeful!
8 February 2016 | by See all my reviews

I thoroughly enjoyed this highly original film, it has a very special feel all of it's own and I didn't find it to be depressing as another reviewer obviously did. I just loved the atmosphere of this, I felt at home and in familiar surroundings, this sounds odd perhaps but it's how the film made me feel. It's kind of melancholic and somewhat sad but manages to do this without being sentimental about it, I consider this to be quite an achievement as most films of this kind do tend to drift into over the top emotional displays of the "Oh! life is so, so, terrible and hardly worth living" type, this is not the case here at all, there is hope and a strange positivity running through the film and even though some awful things take place the main character has an air of optimism about him, I felt encouraged over all and will watch this again in the near future. The music score is brilliant, full of intense atmosphere and feeling, a lovely soundtrack to an excellent film.
