Taboo (TV Series 2017– ) Poster

(2017– )

Steven Knight agreed to write Taboo if Tom Hardy agreed to star in Locke (2013).
This project was created by Tom Hardy and his father, Chips Hardy.
Tom Hardy revealed that he wanted to film some scenes fully nude but was forced to put on a loin cloth, explaining, "You're lucky there was a loin cloth because I didn't want one. It's not a period drama until someone gets naked and covers themselves in blood. You can't have naughtiness like Game of Thrones on the BBC." Even so, Hardy did film some scenes with full frontal nudity and some of these filming pictures were leaked in the media but all such scenes were cut from the final edit of the show.
This will be the second Scott Free project that stars Tom Hardy. The first project is Child 44 (2015).
Oona Chaplin, Jonathan Pryce and Roger Ashton-Griffiths all had roles on the HBO series, Game of Thrones as Talisa Meagyr (Chaplin), the High Sparrow (Pryce) and Mace Tyrell (Ashton-Griffiths) respectively.
Marks the acting debut of ex professional rugby player Danny Ligairi.
Jonathan Pryce's character is the head the East India Trading Company, whereas in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series his character is ordered to be killed by the head of the same company.
