Marvel's Agents of Shield Season 1 Blu-ray and DVD Release Date Same as Cap

30 May 2014 12:38 PM, PDT | TheHDRoom | See recent TheHDRoom news »

Earlier today, Marvel Studios and Disney announced Captain America: The Winter Soldier is coming to home video on September 9. In a quick follow up announcement, ABC and Marvel's Agents of Shield from Joss Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed Whedon and Jeph Loeb has also been given a September 9 release date on Blu-ray and DVD.

Anyone who has already watched both The Winter Soldier and particularly the second half of Agents of Shield knows that the two narratives are closely intertwined. Bringing them to home video on the same day makes perfect sense, and we're elated to see that Marvel and Disney are giving Agents of Shield a Blu-ray release as well, keeping in mind Disney has by and large shunned releasing television shows on Blu-ray.

Marvel's Agents of Shield stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, along with Chloe Bennet, Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Iain De Caestecker and Elizabeth Henstridge. Also »

This Tuesday, ABC will be airing a special one-hour documentary called Marvel Studios: Assembling A Universe- which will chronicle how the studio put together its multi-tiered Avengers franchise. Reviews from various outlets are in, and they claim it’s pretty darn good. What could have just been a 60 minute infomercial for their blu rays and upcoming movies, actually does a real nice job of giving you insights about the studio. “They’re advertising it as a first look, and that is an honest statement,” says Marvel honcho Kevin Feige. “We don’t start filming for another week and a half, so you’re not going to have a lot of first-unit footage because it doesn’t exist yet. »
