Storyline

When the game is on the line, you want people you can count on- in baseball and in life. In the midst of a challenging season, Cody (Jared Miller) learns he's not the best pitcher...or the best teammate. Meanwhile, Cody's dad, John (Kirk Cameron), is losing to an unscrupulous lobbysit scheming to take over the family business. Both Cody and John think their only option is to fight their problems on their own. It's not until they learn to rely on friends, teammates, and - most importantly - their faith and family that they discover their battles can truly be won. Starring Kirk and Chelsea Cameron, Bas Rutten (Here Comes the Boom), and comedian Tim Hawkins, Mercy Rule is a film for every family that embraces the values of mercy, patience, sacrifice and trusting God. One of the Worst Movies Ever
4 July 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This is without a doubt one of the worst films I have ever seen. Maybe it's not the worst, but it's definitely in my top five. At the end of the long drawn out intro, I thought, it can only get better. I was wrong. The characters are just phony, the dialog terrible, and it's full of clichés. About the only good thing I can say about this movie is that it's over and I never have to watch it again. This movie is promoting good Christian values. Apparently one of these values is that you can sit through an awful movie and not lose your will to live. If they are trying to draw people to the Christian faith with this film, I can't imagine how this helps their cause. If I was on the fence about the Christian faith and was shown this film, I'd go running in any direction that would take me away from that film.

The fact that this movie rated a 5.2 out of 10 shows that a rock bottom score on IMDb is 5. I'm sure there are lots of people who blindly gave this a 10 because it was Christian, Christian values, etc. Just like if one of the characters had mentioned Han Solo or R2D2 a million Star Wars fans would have rated it 10 as well.

If you're thinking about watching this film, just stop, find a ballpoint pen, then jam it in your eye. It will be a less painful experience than watching this movie.
