Storyline

A group of bird watchers are on the island to see its rare green parrots and one of them, Mark Talbot, is murdered with his hunting knife. Talbot was not a popular group member, another visitor Alec Burton threatening to kill him whilst his wife was having an affair with journalist Dan parish and is now a very wealthy widow. The most mystifying aspect of the case is the fact that the victim was only out of sight of the others for a few seconds before his corpse was found but Goodman works out the relevance of Talbot's walking cane and a single sock to solving the murder. Trivia

At the end of the episode, when Dwayne and Captain Jack are drinking beers at Catherine's bar, Captain Jack explains that the Sainte Marie Green parrot is really extinct, the remaining nesting pair "didn't make it". He explains: "It is an ex-parrot, it is deceased, passed away,...or perhaps it is just pining for the fjords." This is an obvious reference to the Monty Python Dead Parrot Sketch, and the Norwegian Blue Parrot. See more »

Goofs

When Fidel first shows the body to the team, he says that the knife, still in the victim's back, has been wiped clean of prints. The lifting of fingerprints from a weapon is always done in a laboratory, not at the crime scene. Furthermore, it is clear that there is no fingerprint powder on the handle of the knife. See more »
