Concept and execution did not manage to convince me here
"The BRIT Awards 2014" were a television event from 2014 and this is as the title already suggests a British awards ceremony. As a consequence, most of the winners (and nominees) from these slightly over 100 minutes were British. Same goes for host James Corden, but he without a doubt proved here how he is not (or at least has not been back then) among the finest hosts, entertainers, etc. call it what you like and does certainly not deserve to have his own late (night) show. Th jokes were almost all embarrassingly bad and I wasn't sure if the audience did not get them acoustically or if they just found them as unfunny as I did. The desperate attempts of some guests to still say Corden was doing a solid job were almost worse than the hosting. As for the show itself, some of the winners were okay, some of the performances were okay, but as a whole, it was an extremely mediocre event I must say. Maybe the concept is also slightly on the offensive side as this awards ceremony deliberately shuts out non-British artists and nominees (to some extent) apart from the International categories. For as much as I cared, this was not a good awards show overall, even if the event itself was not as weak as the hosting there was still nothing memorable about it at all and I have little (almost zero) interest in seeing any future editions. Such a shame as the 2014 Grammy Awards were surprisingly great and one of the best Grammy events in recent history, if not best award shows. But this one we have here really comes short in achieving anything above mediocrity. Don't watch.
