Seth Meyers is the first "Late Night" host to be older than the host of "The Tonight Show." Meyers was 40 years old when he started hosting and Jimmy Fallon was 39.
Seth Meyers announced his wife's pregnancy at the end of the Thanksgiving show on November 26, 2015.
This is the second time in a row that a former Saturday Night Live (1975) cast member/Weekend Update anchor was promoted to hosting this show (the first was Jimmy Fallon in 2009). This also means that both Late Night and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (2014) are simultaneously hosted by past SNL actors starting in 2014.
