In the literary world, Bosch is the half brother of Michael (Mickey) Haller from The Lincoln Lawyer (2011). They have same father; also a lawyer named Michael Haller. Michael Jr is the legitimate son, while Harry Bosch is illegitimate.
The first season draw from the Bosch books City of Bones, Echo Park and The Concrete Blonde.
Bosch's partner is depicted as having something of a clothes fetish and is heavily into designer fashion. In reality actor Jamie Hector has his own fashion label called Royal Addiction
Exists in the same universe as Bloodwork, with Clint Eastwood. Eastwood's character, Terry McCaleb, was an FBI agent who had intersected with Bosch, and Bosch's ex-wife Eleanor Wish (who is also an ex-FBI agent) in earlier cases.
Bosch spins his jazz and blues LPs at home on a 1970s vintage Marantz Model 6300 turntable powered by a classic 1960s McIntosh model MC-240 tube amplifier.
The second season draw from the Bosch books Trunk Music, The Drop and The Last Coyote.
The title character gets his name from the 15th century Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch. His last name in Dutch would be pronounced more like Boz, not the prolonged schh sound.
Jamie Hector and Lance Reddick were both actors in the Wire. Lance Reddick were acting a high ranking police officer in both Bosch and the Wire. Jamie Hector on the other hand, was acting as a drug lord in the Wire, and a detective in Bosch.
