I'm not a pedophile. I'm a lawyer.

Warning: Spoilers
Aliens known as Chubbies come to Earth. They enter human bodies through the hard to reach cavity and use them for breeding, then kill the host. Another alien from the planet Snerd is chasing them down and desires to kill them . The action culminates at Moody's Bowl-O-Rama where young adults party on Halloween.

Director, writer Mike C. Hartman is a seventh grader trapped in a grown man's body making all kinds of Chubby jokes. Lloyd Kaufman spoofs President Reagan (He doesn't seem to be a fan.) The special effects are amateur and the dialogue and action is silly. I liked the scene of the two girls bowling, each throwing a gutter ball as they high-five each other on their accomplishment. Guys like to watch girls bowl because that is how we are.

This is for serious Troma fans only, i.e. those that sit through the series of idiotic Troma short films and find them entertaining.

Guide: F-word. Sex and nudity (Ashley Marie Short-zombie nudity, Sikara Kelly.) Not as much sex and nudity as one might expect, but a lot of defecating humor.

Warning: Spoilers
From local Michigan Company, Silver Bullet Pictures, comes a over the top 80s style cheese in the tradition of "Troma" films comes the Sci-fi/Comedy/Horror, "Chubbies" a movie that was also featured in Motor City Nightmares. It is a well made piece and for a budget of only $8k and it's well worth a watch.

The film starts off on a planet called "Snerd" a place where sex is outlawed and where all the people on the planet look the same. Let me first go and say that the first 10 minutes or so of that movie, I was cringing at the bad set design of it, the first five minutes looked like it was shot in someone's garage, even for a micro-budget underground film, it could of been a lot better in that regard. Anyways, on Snerd there are these creatures called "chubbies" whom are on trial and a lawyer defending them who also got arrested for defying his superiors. They then crash into planet earth where the Chubbies go loose, going into people's anal cavities to turn them into weird purple creatures.

The movie mostly takes place inside a Bowling Alley, where all the employees want to throw a Halloween party but things go crazy once the chubbies run loose going after them one by one. The movie is loaded with off the wall humor, it's got depraved humor that one could recognize from Troma films (Toxic Avenger, Class of Nukem High), in fact, Lloyd Kaufman has a cameo in it. I won't give away too much of the story because I feel it's worth watching.

While all the scenes on Snerd look just amateur and shot in a student green screen classroom, the rest of the movie looked pretty good. The cinematography was well done, editing was smooth and the chubbies were done practically and looked pretty good. The movie also has great gore in it. Once they got to Earth I forgot it was an underground movie and was impressed. It has faily good acting, I think it was a bit over the top on purpose, but given the content of the movie, it should be over the top. I found myself laughing and being entertained throughout. The audio was actually one of the strong points of the movie as it was clean and crisp, which is a problem in a lot of shoe string budget movies.

Despite some not so well put together scenes, (Mainly on Snerd), the movie is well made and great for anyone who enjoys B-Movies such as "Toxic Avenger" "Class of Nuke Em High" or even "Nuns With Big Guns." I give "Chubbies" an "A-". I own it and I watched it more than once. It'd have an "A" if the Snerd Scenes were better put together. However, the rest of the movie was so well done, it was forgivable.
