Intentionally goofy porn films are quite common, but CURIOUS WOMEN is one of the odder ones I've seen lately from the Golden Age, probably a function of bored filmmakers injecting strangeness for strangeness sake. Given the repetitive nature of porn per se, this seems a logical out.
Film is set in Germany, though could have been shot on Long Island for all I can tell. It concerns a horny Uncle Hans (I presume this is Harry Reems under a phony beard) and two sexy nieces Frieda and Inga.
The storyline is quite stupid, intentionally, sort of a fake-Teutonic correlative of the familiar backwoods incest movies that proliferated in the '60s and '70s built around the rural myth (equal time with urban myths) of Ozark inbreeding.
THere's plenty of oddball humping and just crazy behavior, such as busty Frieda getting off watching Hans urinating (in great volume) outdoors -not a Golden Shower but still Supreme Court-level obscene.
Frieda is the instigator of bad behavior in the early reels, but Inga the former innocent catches up with her as the film drags on. When Hans is especially horny he goes to town (Berlin) and sees the whores at Selma's brothel. I had to issue a Spoiler alert (as if one could spoil entertainment at this gutter level) to inform all & sundry that the movie briefly changes tone completely for a shock climax of Frieda going crazy at a poolside orgy and attacking Selma with a broken bottle for manhandling her lesbian (incest) cousin Inga, with Inga also getting involved in the violence.
Many stars pop up, early in their careers when they weren't picky (of course, many were NEVER picky), including Darby Lloyd Rains as a whore and Jamie Gillis who merely masturbates, paying to watch the cousins hump each other (non-speaking role and way out of character for him).
Silly Nazi jokes that would even embarrass Mel Brooks (imagine that) have Reems as Uncle Hans commenting "You put the goose back in my step" while having sex and also shouting "My fuhrer!" when climaxing. I would like to call this good clean fun but that it ain't.
