Fantastic Art History

An amazing history of Australian art that manages to balance the white narrative and our First Nations artists too.

I can only imagine that the negative ratings are from some men who didn't like Nanette. I find it hard to believe anyone could have issue with this clever, well written and excellently researched series.

I learned a lot and had a great time doing it.

With their tongue-in-cheek comedy style, Hannah takes you through Australia's complicated history through the lens of its art. Each look at a historical work is juxtapositioned against a contemporary artists providing a retrospective on Australia's colonialist past through the themes and ideas explored in their own work.

This is also an invaluable resource for high school art classes across the country, so educators rejoice! I recommend this to anyone who enjoys learning more about art, Australian history and our complex cultural identity.
