Not bad at all

'Foreign Relations' heads for Greece, where a young American man is on a tour of the country. As he's on his own and there's limited space, he ends up being roomed with a Greek man, which causes issues as language problems and culture clash means he can't be sure whether his roommate would have a problem with the fact he's gay – or whether he'd mind that he's developing a crush on him.

It provides a decent level of tension between the American tourist and his unexpected roommate. But it's all a little too convenient. When it sticks to the two men, it's not bad at all – and it certainly doesn't hurt that they're both pretty hot and don't mind stripping down when it's called for. What helps 'Foreign Relations' is that it has a bit of a sense of humour, and that in turn helps raise the sexiness level.

Weak all around

Warning: Spoilers
"Foreign Relations" is a 25-minute live action short film from 2014, so this one is not even three years old now. When this came out, writer and director Reid Waterer has already worked in film for 20 years, made even full feature films and this is why I am really shocked by how badly this one turned out to be. The characters are as bland and uninspired as it gets. The action is really uninteresting and the actors aren't any better to be honest. they are wooden and stale and I never had the impression I was watching authentic characters during this slightly under half an hour. This was especially painful during the more tense, more emotional scenes that honestly came out of nowhere and made little to no sense in the grand scheme of things. I found it impossible for the characters to care or cheer for as well. It seemed to me just as if they included a couple attractive guys in a sunny country and gave them random dialogues. The hetero part of the audience (probably nobody except myself) gets some decent woman's legs to drool over at some point. Other than that, it was an extremely underwhelming watch that is not worth checking out at all. Extremely forgettable.
