An Oscar Material
kshehzad16 August 2015
When a dysfunctional family confronts the realities of the past and present along with diminishing collective morality of society then maintaining values you've been carrying becomes a liability and your fragile innocence clings only with string of hope. This is the subliminal central idea of much anticipated Pakistani movie "MOOR" produced and directed by highly acclaimed Jamshed Mahmood Raza aka Jami. Since the first teaser of "MOOR", I had firm believe in distinct quality this movie offers.

Deeply intense emotional melodrama revolves around closing down of railway system of Zhob district of Baluchistan back in 1984 and its direct implications on station master Wahid (Hameed Sheikh) and his family. Abject poverty resulted from closure of Railway station cripples naïve but honest Wahid when he is emotionally challenged by his elder brother Zahir (Shabbir Rana) and local goon Sardar Khan aka Laalu (Sultan Hussain) to make some compromises. Palwasha (Samiya Mumtaz) who plays more an emotional whistle blower than a wife of Wahid and he hangs between good and evil, family values and corruption. Death of Wahid's wife and then his son Ehsaan's (Shaz Khan) own battle for self redemption spread darker shades on screen in peculiar back & forth style of Jami in which story takes two steps back before moving one step further.

Serene and breathtaking beauty of Muslim Bagh with snowy surroundings reminds us Hollywood's "FARGO" released in 1996. Farhan Hafeez as cinematographer has pulled off an award winning job. The way he has filmed different areas of Baluchistan, it has never been attempted before. Along with strong performances of main leads "MOOR" will always be remembered for its top-notch cinematography.

Hameed Sheikh has done stunning job. Maxims of acting Hameed Sheikh has explored as station master Wahid in "MOOR", it seems this role was specifically penned for him. With acutely believable character and emotionally charged acting, his talent can easily be par with Naseeruddin Shah. It will be great to watch both of them in single frame someday. Debutant Shaz Khan has surprised with his matured performance. It will not be surprise if Shaz Khan is seen in some international project in future. The forgotten name of experience actor from Quetta Abdul Qadir as Baggoo Baba gives small but noticeable comic relief in intensely charged sequences. Abdul Qadir's performance is one of the highlights of "MOOR". After watching Ayaz Samoo as Imtisal, no one can imagine that he is the same person who has been hosting music show on ARY Musik as famous video jokey Sajid Billa.

On the whole, "MOOR" is magnificently executed, superbly performed and meticulously written film which aims self-actualization. With its soul-searching element and momentous theme "MOOR" will cherish only serious cinema-goers but not the masses. If right promotion and effective PR are done internationally then "MOOR" has all the ingredients to emerge as an Oscar material.

I don't know if we watched the same movie.
vish-strawberries3 October 2015
I am surprised at the rave reviews this film has received. In fact they are what prompted me to see this alleged masterpiece that has been submitted for Oscar consideration by Pakistan. I was sorely disappointed and don't even understand if the other reviewers and I saw the same film.

To get this out of the way, the story was worth telling, the acting was excellent, the soundtrack heavenly, the aesthetics mesmerizing to say the least. HOWEVER, that is NOT all it takes to make a movie an art film.

The story was poorly told. Poorly. To make a film universal, a filmmaker must assume that the audience knows zilch about the subject matter; start from the start. He/She must build up the story in a way that the audience is at the edge of their seats by the climax, quivering to know what happens. It's not even about suspense; a work of art should MOVE you. It should make you feel something. The story was so close to home because I love trains, and I live in Pakistan. If the film failed to move someone so directly involved, how is going to move people who know nothing about Pakistan Railway and the level of corruption in this country?

Don't get me wrong, everything good that I said about it is true and only if the scenes were rearranged to tell the story from scratch, properly, intensely, it could have been moving and unbelievably beautiful. For me, Moor failed to be what it claimed to be. Manto should have been submitted for Oscar consideration.

It's Pakistani cinema at its finest
mazhar519 August 2015
Finest of cinematography, acting(among all recent Pakistani), great direction, strong message.Movie made me fall in love with Baluchistan. Brilliant work done there by all the team. Overall, loved it. But that was then and this is now. It took Pakistani cinema around two years to reset the bar, higher than where it had been set earlier by Waar. All thanks to Moor, and of course the people behind it. The acting department spearheaded by Hameed Sheikh was simply a treat within a treat. God, the performances. I would actually like to thank Shoaib Mansoor here. Thank You sir, thank you for bringing the greatness that is Hameed Sheikh in the film world. And I will be honest here, Hameed Sheikh did make me shed few tears. The film was about Waheed (Hameed's character) and Hameed Sheikh gave it the best he has given to a film up till now

Moor Revives Passion and Inspired Truth And Patriotism In The Viewer
ahsanejazali19 August 2015
Watched Moor yesterday and came back with a relaxing feel in my heart that Yes there are still people out there who actually know how to make films and give a tribute to someone, rather then making a 2 Hour TVC of their Sponsor by adding few cheap jokes and item numbers in it!

I was just Mesmerized by the beauty and scenery the land of Baluchistan has and we haven't seen it for so long, Thank You Moor for Showcasing Out Beautiful Province To Us.

The Screenplay, The Direction, The Cinematography, The Shots, The Framing, The Acting and The Music Specially made me Hooked to my seat till the end and gave me a lesson of inspiration to always look for what one should do and choose the right path and not fall for the tempting desires because it will make u comfortable but will not fulfill your soul. and the remorse will haunt you for the rest of your life.

It was a great experience for me as it was a inspirational film, Thank you to its director sir Jami for reviving my belief that we could make good films in Pakistan.

A Must Watch!!

Moor: A step in the right direction
s-danishrizvi18 August 2015
This is by no means a technical breakdown of the good or bad in film making. Rather a feeler as to what Moor (2015) has to offer. Moor is set in a cold snowy Balochistan. Focused on the life of a man struggling to keep hold of his land and his family. The Film takes us on a journey to far away barren land, shot beautifully with actors who barely faltered, delivering well written dialogs and capturing strong emotion. Moor is for the patient viewer who knows that good things comes to those who wait...and I must say Good things do come! A great watch! Shedding light on an important issue backed by wonderfully pleasing music and sound design. One of the best Films to come out of Pakistani Cinema!

MOOR (Mother). A movie ahead of its time. A Bar raised so high of Pakistani Cinema.
shaen_cool14 August 2015
MOOR shows is a simple story of corruption, honesty, soul searching and above all a Father/Son relationship.

To begin with movie from its first shot takes your breath away, Cinematography is Hauntingly beautiful. During the movie at points you forget its a Pakistani movie. Movie's atmosphere is so calm yet at the same time its chaotic.

Jami a veteran director whose previous is O21 and many music videos has conceived it brilliantly. He has made a movie which will make Pakistani Cinema proud and should be official entry for Oscars from PAK.

On the whole a damn good movie and a must watch. 9/10

Was the hype deserved? No.
daredevilpk3 September 2015
Moor. Was the hype deserved? . The movie started well. The place was beautiful, camera angles were refreshing and different from those I have seen in previous Pakistani movies. Individual scenes were shot beautifully and care was taken of the little details. It was a poetic depiction of a story.Editing was loose at some places and some scenes were patched on very abruptly. Casting and acting was OK, better than previous Pakistani movies. Some actors did fit in their roles. Shaz Khan was OK in his role of Ehsaan but he did not leave any lasting impression. It was his father Hameed Sheikh playing the role of the station master, who did a good job. Samiya Mumtaz as usual, did justice to her role. Sara, the sister spoke beautifully in a voice coated with honey, though her accent was way off for a Baloch girl. Amber, his girlfriend was convincing in her small role. Ehsan's friend was good too. Another important role was Baggoo, whose character I did not find adorable, at all. Dialogues were average, nothing I would feel compelled to quote. But coming to the most important ingredient of a good film: the story, It was not gripping. At all. It was as boring as the trailer made it seem. I failed to develop any concern for any character, let alone an emotional connection. It was a third party viewing and analyzing. It also appeared as if director was trying to complicate a very simple thing. This is modern story telling but I personally think it is appropriate when the story has more to reveal. You can shoot a cat drinking milk from three angles but in the end if the cat is only drinking milk, it's boring. There's no twist to it. People are going to lose interest. I also don't know how the conscience of people suddenly wakes up from its deep slumber by one or two emotional situations. It is the director's responsibility to bridge the gap between the good and bad by a convincing turn of events. Character development was not as bad as in previous lollywood films but still. disappointing. Predictable. Utopian. Nothing new. Possibly the only thing I actually enjoyed about the movie was the background music with the beautiful shots of Balochistan. I wanted that to go on and on. (Admittedly, towards the end it was also because i wanted to avoid the movie) Some nuances: In one scene Ehsaan says after reading her mother lab reports that she was diagnosed with Broken heart syndrome. Seriously? One cannot read different interesting conditions on internet and diagnose the characters in his movie with it. No one is diagnosed with 'broken heart syndrome' on a lab report,as such. It's a retrospective diagnosis made on 'speculation'. It is a term coined for the very rare occasions when someone experiences severe heart conditions and there is no physical abnormality that explains it, and if the only explanation could be psychological stress or trauma . No one diagnoses it on 'lab reports'. What a piece of fiction! . In retrospect, would i want to watch this movie if i knew what it was like? No. I wouldn't. It is just another movie which made me feel that i sat through it to encourage local cinema. Was the hype deserved? No. If this was Pakistan cinema at its finest then they sure have a long way to go.

too much artistic and low impact on society
royalrider-hamza17 August 2015
After watching Jami's O21, I had high hopes for MOOR because he doesn't follow the usual ingredients of a Lollywood or Bollywood movie. Surely, MOOR wasn't your typical Indian musical or a romcom. The basic story line is powerful, it deals with corruption in railways, neglect of government for Balochistan, moral degradation of society (particularly Karachi), lust of man for money and bonding within the family. What Jami failed to do this time was to create a steady momentum of the story. Movie seems to be a product of bad editing where haphazard scenes collide. The first 50 minutes seemed like a psychological thriller where a man is marred with the guilt of not saving his mother in his childhood. Also those 50 minutes could have been shown in a total of 15 minutes span. Scenes are shot in detail from an artistic point of view not from storytelling perspective. The emotional scenes are so long that they affect the whole feeling in it. The director failed to project the characters emotions. Dialogues seemed to be a rip off of an old moral story that mothers in Pakistan tell their kids and they were prolonged for no particular reason. You have got your railway corruption, backwardness of Balochistan and moral dilemmas being shown at the same time, nothing is wrong with it… but poor editing made it confusing for the audience to concentrate to all of it. The light background music wasn't effective during the dialogues as it should have been. Shots were too much zoomed in. There is hardly a scene where you see a character's full body or the environment he/she is in (apart from the outside shots in Balochistan). It was as if cameraman didn't knew how to zoom out. Maybe the director wanted to show the facial expressions in detail while a character's life is in turmoil but it was all too much. From an artistic directors' point of view, the shots are beautiful. But overall Jami failed to compile the movie to convey a heavy message. You have to assimilate more than 90 minutes to receive this message: Money is not real happiness, family ties are important, Pakistan (motherland) is to be taken care of by every individual and to always act morally.

A heart wrenching story about corruption, family and one's desire for a better life...
messi_ka_ashiq15 August 2015
Moor is a film not many in Pakistan will admire because they were not ready for such a stroke of brilliance by director Jami. This movie will not be forgotten by moviegoers anytime soon.

First of, the cinematography is astounding. This movie shows that there are places in Pakistan that can compete with any industry in terms of exoticness, it is truly mind blowing. Secondly, the music by Strings is nothing more than sheer art. It really adds to the circumstances of the film and it literally gives u goosebumps. Other areas are really impressive.

The lead role performed by Hameed Sheikh(Wahid ullah Khan) is truly a work of art. "Expressions speak louder than words", I think Hameed Sheikh took this very seriously as you can see the gestures he makes and you will feel chills down your spine, impeccable. The rest of the cast does a decent job, no one seem out of place. Another actor to be praised is Shaz Khan with his driving performance. All in all, a superb job done.

As a movie Moor is nothing short of brilliant. If you love movies and profound storytelling and good acting I recommend you see Moor with high expectations as you will leave the cinema with a heavy heart. It is a must watch.

"For the love of railways"
farooqahmed-7278514 August 2015
Be it the stunning visuals of the never before seen valleys or the enthralling music that brings you to the edge of your seat or the powerful message against corruption, Moor is the perfect movie to be released on 14th of August as the movie shows so much of Pakistan so elegantly.

To start with the positives, the actors were up to the mark and delivered nothing short of the what was needed. Shaz Khan, the first timer (as far as i know) showed a lot of potential and out shined all the other cast members by quiet some margin but no one can neglect the veterans, Hameed Sheikh and Samiya Mumtaz were brilliant as always and in the little amount of scenes they were together, they showed great chemistry. Another thing that was great about the movie was the cinematography, Jami has once again filmed this movie to perfection as he did with "O21". The music was another great feat, all the songs were just made for the moment especially "Eva" and "Talabgar".

Coming to the worrying bits, the direction. Jami clearly hasn't learned from the mistakes he made in "O21", this movie had the same problems, just a lot of "nothing" in between scenes and that is not something the "patient and intelligent" Pakistani audience can bear, they want to see something happen in every scene which was the missing element. The director could've done so much to correct this but for some reason he didn't. I wanted to enjoy this movie so much more than I did but i couldn't, i mean background music and fast cuts building up to nothing is no less than a crime, not to mention the numerous train references which didn't help either.

In conclusion, Moor is a good movie that could've been better. If you are the person who enjoyed "Na Maloom Afraad" and "Wrong No." then don't waste your money on the ticket but if you enjoy deep and intelligent movies with a strong message, Moor is a one-time but definite watch.

Complicated and twisted story leaving the viewers confused
asn61516 August 2015
First of all, i have supported Pakistani cinema since Khuda Kay lye. I have watched every single Pakistani movie in cinema since then. But this movie disappointed me. The director puts a lot of effort in cinematography and its excellent. The breathtaking views of Baluchistan are amazing. The story of the movie is so confusing and twisted that you have to pay real close attention to just get to know whats happening in the movie. Screenplay is very weak. Three different stories are intermingled and the director hasn't done justice to a single one. The music in great no doubt. The cinema hall in Cinepax Rawalpindi was around 30% filled and a number of people left before the movie ended. The movie has great music and cinematography but you don't watch a movie just for that. The movie lacks a good story, dialogues are weak, acting is just average with the exception of Hameed Sheikh ( Wahid in the movie) whose acting was excellent. I have supported Pakistani cinema and continue to do so but i wont rate this high just because this is a Pakistani movie. you have to make quality movies that people enjoy. For people who want to experiment anything new, they can give it a try. Otherwise DO NOT go for it. This movie is no fun. You will have to try hard to just get whats happening on the screen.

Great movie
aka-pwc15 August 2015
The movie was such an experience in itself... Lyrics, cinematography, acting, story all were perfect. The scenic locations of Balochistan were really well shot. Snow clad mountains, camera catching even the slightest of details of the scenes, two stories running in various scenes, thought provoking dialogs, suspense being built up slowly were the hallmarks of the movie. The corruption in Railways was portrayed in a manner worth appreciation. The story picked up pace gradually and all pieces of jigsaw puzzle were well connected. The producer didn't lose control of the plot at any point of time. Music was tuned with the story line. This movie has surely notched up the quality of Pakistani cinema. All actors did justice to their roles. Moor had many subtle messages for its viewers and the story surely had the depth to satiate the mature viewers.

An inner struggle of a father and a son after the passing of their mother.
murtazaawsome24 September 2015
An Extraordinary Step Towards The Revival of Pak. Cinema:

Moor (Mother) directed by Jamshed Mahmood Raza aka Jami is an incredible film about ones struggle against the internal demons and the corruption lying within ourselves as well as dealing with worldly troubles.

An original script inspired by true events, set against the backdrop of decay of Pakistan Railways and how the corrupt used it to their advantage to loot the locals and make unethical profits for themselves.

The lead actors Shaaz Khan and Hameed Sheikh deliver performances worthy of praise on a global front.

Jami also proves his metal, using the lens in the most cunning way to capture, not only some breathtakingly scenic views but also the drama in a way that only the most gifted could.

The story is also to be lauded, traveling back and forth between the present and the past in a manner that does not overwhelm the viewer yet also builds up suspense and at the right moments unraveling in a beautiful manner to elaborate on important plot points.

By my humble opinion it most definitely carries the potential of a film worthy of an Academy Award. I would recommend it to not just all fellow Pakistanis but also to the foreigners reading this review.

My Ratings: (a strong) 8.5!!

Visually Stunning but story-telling at its worst !!!
kemcolian22820 August 2015
I wanted to like this movie. I really wanted to, but couldn't despite all sincerity. First, the good things: Awesome cinematography, at par with any internationally acclaimed movie. Breath-taking landscapes of Baluchistan captured in all its grandiosity. Brilliant score by Strings. Urban yet soul-touching music.

But the movie failed to properly convey the issue of corruption in Railways (or Pakistan in general). I couldn't develop emotional connect with any of the characters whatsoever. Non-linear haphazard storyline, forgetful dialogues, terrible pace, story-telling at its worst. What's with the spitting scenes, twice? And useless scenes like Baggoo's race with the Range Rover of Lalu. No character development at all. This movie should have been named "Wahid" instead of Moor as Hameed Sheikh is almost in 90% of the frames. Samiya Mumtaz given very little On-Screen time. Amateur acting by Shaz Khan, but mature acting by Sonia Hussain. She looked elegant and beautiful on screen. Ayaz Samoo's wasted debut. At the end of this 150 minutes long snooze-fest, I just wanted refund !!

Moor - Made in Pakistan for Pakistan
mnaceem17 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Jami is known for bringing out of the box and creative works all the time, from the music videos to TVCs, it depict always new fresh feelings, no copycat etc. framing and scene composition never compromised by Jami. Everyone knows Jami is a man who always leads from the front; even the mountain peaks of Kanjrab (Karakoram Mountains) or toughest mountain hills of Gorakh never stops his feet.

Moor is a long awaited film of Jami, so expectation was so high, audience were waiting for more than three years. So this film should be on that particular level. Moor film shot on the remote locations of Balochistan, which explored by any Director first time, working on extreme climate and tough weather conditions, where survival is not easy he made it. Moor is served as a great cinematography, best script, best acting and best directions with best crew and team building, it is truly made in Pakistan. Films across the world made in various genres but unfortunately in Pakistan India made and successful genres are Romance, Action and Comedies, so they can take out money easily, so they never try different genre. Moor is neither an entertainment nor item number film with some big name, it has simple but colorful cast and numerous plot twists. Jami used actors that had either appeared in previous Blockbuster film, and all of them tried their level best to for their respective roles. Hameed Sheikh and Abdul Qadir has done magnificent and unforgettable role of Wahid, while Shaz Khan, Ayaz Samoo and Sonya did their marvellous entry on the debut. Strings soundtrack is truly amazing and beyond the imagination of our audience. Art direction Tahir Mehmood and Nasma did wonderful job. Cinematography by Farhan Hafeez with Faibo Borhanz stunning and outstanding. Nadeem H. Mandviwalla you produced a master piece. Well done! Team Moor. Keep rolling....

Best Cinematography, Powerful Acting and Extremely unique topic with great touch of Music, MOOR is certainly a gift to Pakistan Cinema..!!
engrumairkarim15 August 2015
Moor is a great addition to Pakistan Cinema. Unveiling the corruption with such an emotional touch is a remarkable job. The cinematography is beyond class. The beautifully captured Scenery of Baluchistan and the camera work makes you think "Is this Pakistan?". Coming to Acting, Wahid Sheikh has done a remarkable job. He truly did justice with the character. Samiya Mumtaz, Shaz Khan and Abdul Qadir were impressive equally.

The direction is pretty impressive but the audience may find it difficult sometime to connect the dots. The story gets too much slow in the middle and audience may lose their interest. But the powerful acting and melodious music don't let you divert your mind. Hats off to Strings for the music too.

Over all the movie is for those only who loves serious movie. If you want action and thrill, this movie is not for you. The movie can be more better at the end but still this movie is far far better than others currently running.

I hope Jami don't stop here and keep on doing the good work... !!!

Moor (A love letter to mother) - a story about simple people of Pakistan narrated sensitively with all its complexity.
raheellakhani16 August 2015
Moor translates as Mother. The crux of story: how an individual should not deceive one's mother and motherland, why is it important stay on track and grounded, and how corruption affects the simple people who have nothing but their home and family to rely on. More importantly, corruption does not have any hierarchy, it is originated from all levels and cripples the whole country.

The story revolves around a family that is distraught by the corruption which results in closing down of the Zhob railway system, and how it disconnected a region from the opportunities and robbed citizen's life-journeys (both physical and emotional). The parts of plot related to Karachi has indirect references to a company A***t where business of selling fake degrees propelled.

We have waited for Jami (a trend-setter in Ad Films and Music Video industry) to make movies and the wait has been worth it. What a masterpiece Moor is, an artwork which deserves all accolades. Everything about this movie is top-notch. From an engaging nonlinear script, to subtle symbolism, breath-taking cinematography by Farhan Hafeez which does justice to beautiful landscapes of Baluchistan and ruggedness of Karachi and the emotions therein, soundtrack by Strings and lyrics by Anwar Maqsood to die for (their best work till date), dialogues which are full of wisdom but never sound preachy, screenplay that binds it all and performances that are nuanced and never for a second fails to connects (Hameed Sheikh and Abdul Qadir literally speak with their eyes and so do other actors such as Shaz Khan, Soniya Hussain, Samiya Mumtaz - they are not characters, they are real people, you feel for them and they reciprocate by plunging you to feel for your self). Jami surprisingly does a cameo worth- noticing.

I watched this movie with my Moor. I have consciously chosen to live in this country and stand by it because my parents, my Moor, our love is here. Ironically, I was once harassed by an official at Karachi passport office for renewal because he wanted a bribe and I refused. Such is the politics of identity, existence, survival and belonging sadly today - where the world is becoming a global village but we have hollowed our own land. Whenever I have traveled abroad I have always missed only one thing back in my country - it is the transportation system. It brings mobility, it makes connections, it keeps you on track and keeps you moving.

One thing I was looking for in the movie was Ku ku ku song from the soundtrack (I might have missed it) and Kothbiro by Ayub Ogada, the rights of which were especially bought for this movie. But then editors need to do their job.

Above and beyond everything else, it is the story of simple people narrated in all its complexity but sensitively. One requires honesty and courage to tell such a story which is mostly based on true events and its truth can seem to be ugly, if considered on a superficial level. The frames and many moments of revelation will still haunt a viewer but it gives you hope that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. You will end up staring the train shots from inside the tunnel - they will move you. Both the chaos and pathos here is so relatable and real. It manages to reflect in depths of your own soul - if we bring this transparency to ourselves, the country will start changing. Thanks Jami and team for giving us Moor. This movie has all the potential to bring back the sense of respect for our mothers and motherland back. The movie resonates with what many of us have believed in i.e. we need to go beyond rhetoric of superficial patriotism and fix our own-selves so our generations inherits something of value and it reflects in their character and relationships with us but also in the fabric of our society.

Jami one of the best.

Jami is one of my most favourite film directors in Pakistan. His story telling is a bit confusing time to time but his work on the characters' emotions, incredibly cinematography added with it and his way to bring in the story.

Moor Priceless !!!!!!!!!!
shujayk15 August 2015
Land Family and Principles are the three strong pillars on which moor stands. MOOR stuns and stings the audience right from the word go. Right from the first frame till the closing you ask a simple question is it a really Pakistani movie I am watching, in such a short time lollywood has taken a big leap in movie making, where Bollywood took years and years to make quality movies we have achieved even better standards in a much lesser time. MOOR from acting to music, screenplay, direction is Flawless, a master piece in its own class. The actors, all the actors seems to be so fit in their characters that you cant ask better than this. The lead role done by Shaz khan delivers a pure punch. Hameed Sheikh and Sumya Mumtaz also delivers perhaps the best roles of their time. All characters have done a splendid job, the role of Shaz Khan's friend done by Ayaz Samoo is a surprise, what a talent. The music is so nicely placed that you will love it. MOOR is all about land family principles ethics family values, the questions are very simples but answers????????????????????? The story is about a family who gets caught in a web weaved by clever, robbers mafias who want to sell everything to fill their pockets. One thing that is a key here is Pakistan Railway, and why this railway is in loss. Love parents, speak truth, stop corruption and own Pakistan and it's assets are the strong messages which MOOR delivers. MOOR is a master stroke which makes you to think, just like BOL #Moor makes you to think. Surely #Lollywood has taken a far leap, setting new standards. I am a Pakistani and #moor is just another reason to make me proud. JAMI is a class act just like Shakespeare, he is our #shakespear of the film making. Everything is for sale cause everything has a price but #moor (means Mother ) is priceless!!!!!! Go grab your tickets to see this #PRICELESS #Moor!!!!!!!!!!!!

Caution!!!!! Moor is a serious movie no jhatkas no matkas!!!!!!!!

Waste of money
aliosmi15 August 2015
Didn't expected this from Jami, after Operation 21. I was expecting so much from this movie, and as a fan of Jami (Not anymore) I was curiously waiting for the movie to release. After so much hype and everyone praising Jami on social media, I thought this would be a good movie. Don't know what he really wanted to convey through his film, pathetic movie. Only music, locations and direction were good but the story was dead. I hated what he showed in movie that every person in Karachi is doing fraud and drinking alcohol and going to the club to have a party and that we are dead people. Jami get a life dude, I don't know where are you from but please don't play with our emotions. Should have watched Shah. And this was not only my review people exiting from cinema were also saying this that it was a waste of money.

Way to go Jami & team Moor !!
z_munim15 August 2015
Jami is one of the brightest names to come out of Pakistan. Last year, his film Operation 021, which tackled the theme of terrorism, won wide acclaim and praise. The supremely talented storyteller is back with another bold and hard-hitting effort called Moor, which tells the multi-layered story of Wahidullah, the station master of Khost railway station, who is forced to sell off the railway infrastructure due to political pressure and financial benefits. On the other hand, his son Ahsanullah Khan moves to Karachi, and finds himself entangled in a series of life changing events. Moor makes you peep into the lives of a family living in Balochistan, making us aware of the predicament, the anguish, their determination to survive against all odds. Moor shocks and stuns also because of the sub-plots in the plot line and the twists and turns in the story. Of course, I wouldn't like to reveal the details and spoil the fun of watching this brilliant fare, but I'd like to add that one has rarely witnessed such themes on the big screen especially in Pakistan. It serves as a wake-up call for the orthodox film makers to think out of the box and come up with path breaking stories. Admiring MOOR and not appreciating Jami would be doing a great disservice to the individualist film-maker. He deserves brownie points for not just choosing a completely offbeat subject, but also handling it with aplomb. That's not all, for Jami has extracted wonderful performances from the principal cast. The soundtrack of the film is done by 'Strings' and lyrics are penned by Mr. Anwar Maqsood. Some big names which include Javed Bashir, Strings themselves, Rahim Shah and Meesha Shafi have lent their vocals and made it the most remarkable music album of a Pakistani film so far. Talabgar, Eva, Jogiya and Gul Bashri are the pick of the lot and unlike other movie soundtracks; this one will surely have a long shelf life. MOOR's cinematography is another highlight of the movie. Breathtaking locales of Balochistan have been captured like never before. The awe- inspiring beauty of this part of our country simply blows away the audience. Each and every shot is done with so much detail and perfection that it looks like a beautiful painting. Moor, undoubtedly is by far the best piece of work by any Pakistani film maker. Hats off to Team MOOR.

IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE NEW FACE OF THOUGHT PROVIKING PAKISTANI CINEMA AND IF YOU ARE TIRED OF MASALA FLICKS WITH MINDLESS COMEDY, THEN THIS IS THE FILM TO WATCH PEOPLE> MUST, MUST WATCH!

Stunning

Thank you Jami for reviving Pakistani Cinema. Moor was an absolute stunner - beautiful shots and amazing storyline. Characterization was immense.

The dialogues are simple yet gripping. My most favourite dialogue from the film is when Ehsan screams and cries and says, "Moorgi ko bula dou, mujhey woh samjha dein gi (Please call my mother, she will make me understand)" - this dialogue perfectly sums up the relationship.

Wahid's character was so powerful that you forget the heartthrob Ehsan at times and want Wahid to speak up. Though have a very conventional ending but were driven to the conclusion in a smooth way. Must watch.

Moor is one of the best picture i have seen in a while.

Moor is not less than a master piece, Jami pulled the job too perfect. It is a true movie which contains, proper cinematography elements, selection of shots, location, story plot which is better than many other Hollywood-Bollywood stories. Best music (pretty obsessed with the tunes) couldn't get over. Perfectly polished cast for pulling the characters. dialogue delivery too good!! Moor is a must watch movie -- for those who literally know what movie or film industry means, not to those who are just there to kill their time with fancy clothes, bouncy beats, or glamorous colorful life. Its more of reality check for us. Once again shout out to JAMI and TEAM, you guys make us proud. Perfectly done job. Another part, its an encouragement to all the upcoming film students and moral boosting. To see our film industry flourishing in a right direction.
