When a newly released prisoner misses two back-to-back parole meetings, the squad is called in to track him down after the suspect's therapist expresses concerns over his mental state. Meanwhile, Raydor invites a therapist, Dr. Joe Bowman, to the office to evaluate Rusty over a game of chess.
When a sex offender on parole goes missing, the team tries to find him, and when they do, he's dead. At his family's house they find he was going to do what he was convicted of again. With a photo of a girl in his computer, they also discover that a deputy sheriff whom Sanchez knows has been following him, a man whose daughter was among the victims and who later committed suicide. He and another girl were working together to draw him out so the perp could be sent back to prison. When the felon's father claims the girl visited his son but she denies it, and the deputy avows he'd never let her go near him, who's telling the truth? Meanwhile, Capt. Raydor arranges for Rusty to talk to a therapist who can match him at chess.
A police officer becomes the prime suspect when the serial rapist who victimized his daughter is killed, and Rusty meets with a therapist who can also teach him a few lessons in chess.
