Six years after being sacked as the chairman of London's ICA (for criticising modern art) entrepreneur Ivan Massow made his debut as a film maker with this attack on modern art. It's difficult to know what to make of it except that perhaps it was intended as a work of art itself. Purportedly it's a record of a dinner party thrown by Joan Collins for artist Banksy and other celebrity friends. It soon becomes apparent that nothing is real. The house is not Collins's, the servants are played by actors, and gay comedian Stephen K. Amos has a girlfriend. The person alleged to be Banksy has a pixelated face and altered voice. It is not Banksy. (Later Banksy's people complained about the film, but nothing developed because the film was barely released). The film was shot in a day in 2008 and considering this schedule it's not bad. But it has no conclusion. The dinner party just ends. It's likely that you will be as perplexed as the performers in the film. ("Nobody knew what they were doing," Paul de Freitas told me). The film was nominated for the Best Documentary award at the Marbella Film Festival in 2009 but was never seen again until it turned up on YouTube in 2012. The comments are not kind.
