Good One off revival Short
camiacono17 August 2017
I loved Courage growing up, it was basically the less cheesy Scooby Doo. Cartoon Network Did some revival Movies in the late 2000's like Ed, Edd'N Eddy: the big Picture show, PowerPuff Girls Rule and PowerPuff Girls Dance pants and Johnny Bravo In Bollywood, all of which were pretty good. This ones much shorter though But still retains the old feel and even in the CGI it really does replicate the look of the original (keep in mind Cartoon network has only really done all 2d animation before say a good amount in gumball, some auto-mobiles and the PPG Dance pants). The story really does feel like it could have been an episode from the original, a little shorter because it's 3 minutes shorter than the average episode but it still doesn't feel rushed. They monster even gets a little sentimental moment in there too which courage often did for some of the creatures that showed up. Over all I say this is something that should air a decent amount of times every Halloween from now on. It's a shame they never really fixed that cliff hanger the final episode had where his parents are stuck on the moon but hopefully soon they can properly conclude that if they decide to take another shot with courage.

It's like Courage and his charm never left!

Warning: Spoilers
Courage the Cowardly Dog was one of my absolute favorite cartoons from my childhood along with Ed, Edd 'n Eddy, Dexter's Lab and Samurai Jack. When it was cancelled I indeed were disappointed and pretty sad because it was such an awesome cartoon that just knew how to be both funny and suspenseful not to mention scary but still entertaining! Today I was able to find this "special" presentation that was created for last years Halloween and I gotta tell you that I was surprised not to find out about this 'til now!

It's been 13 and a half years since the last episode aired and returning now you could imagine such a new feature not being as good as the classic series. But I was very happy to find out that it was both directed and written by series creator John R. Dilworth himself so I had hopes to see it. And how was it?

As the title of my review suggest it's like Courage and his charm never left! Yes it was that good, the characters were the same, their attitudes were the same, the setup was the same, the humor was the same just almost everything were the same as the classic series! It was nice to hear Courage's and Muriel's original voices again, though one criticism I have is Eustace's voice it's only his voice that didn't sound the same like the original series but that didn't stop me to give this a good rating.

A little difference to the original series is that this special represented entirely in 3D animation. The 3D animation did a good job I didn't mind it at all since the original show used to have 3D animations at times, it worked out just fine without feeling simplistic or choppy. I was a bit worried that it would be choppy like that PPG Danced Pantsed special, but don't worry this was not the case thankfully.

Another little complaint I have is that I wish it could have been longer but it kept a good pace just like the series. I wouldn't mind at all if Courage the Cowardly Dog would return with new adventures as long as it can keep it's charm that I loved. I don't hate the Cartoon Network of today, there are both good and bad ones but if Courage the Cowardly Dog were reborn hopefully children of today could appreciate it as much as I did in my childhood. A big thank you to John R. Dilworth for this presentation.

I will let it pass, but did courage the cowardly dog really need a revival series? and what happened to this revival series?

Well, it could've been better if it wasn't CGI, but the old series was good, but what about a revival? Well, I heard that the rugrats 2021 reboot is not such a successful reboot, so the only way to make this better is if it wasn't CGI and it could've just been 2D animated, but what the hell happened to this revival series? I have two theories, theory one: this series could've turned into the prequel series they said were in the works, but transformed into something else. Theory two: they could've changed it to the the scooby doo crossover film.

(not so) Little Fog of Horrors
Horst_In_Translation28 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
"The Fog of Courage" is a 7-minute animated short film from 2014 and this one is written and directed by Oscar nominee John Dilworth. His Oscar-nominated short film over two decades was apparently the first time Courage the Cowardly Dog showed up and here he is again in the 2010s. It is up to him to save his owner when her greedy husband does not want to return a golden necklace to its rightful owner as the latter, a really scary fog, is also the main antagonist in this little movie. I did not find it too funny. The old lady was truly bland, the dog was forgettable, only the old guy was somewhat entertaining and it is fitting he also gets the very last shot here, one of not enough entertaining moments even for under 10 minutes. The way this turned out as a whole I am not convinced at all. We have to keep in mind this is not a fan film or anything. For that it would have been tolerable. Also not sure if I liked the animation, I guess it is among the better components. But I do know I did not enjoy the overall outcome and it did not get me curious about the show. Courage's comedy routine gets old way too quickly for my taste. Don't watch.
