Storyline

Lentil Soup is a faith-based Christian film about two brothers on opposite sides of the law who, unfortunately, become bitter enemies. Thomas, a successful yet self-centered young police chief, is fueled by an unquenchable quest for vengeance whereas his older brother Paul, a born again believer serving a life sentence in prison, is forced to confront the tyranny of his manipulative brother after being coaxed into foolishly escaping from custody. Both men are compelled to face their past as well as their inevitable future in this very powerful story about the genuine power of forgiveness and redemption. Written by Jackie S. Karch

Trivia

The screenplay for Lentil Soup is roughly based on the Karch Brothers real lives. Jason, the oldest brother, is currently serving a life sentence in prison and serves as the inspiration for the character, Paul. The character Thomas is an amalgamation of twin brothers Jackie (who has been formerly employed by law enforcement departments and was also a Military Police officer in the U.S. Army) and Philip. The youngest brother, James Sheve, is based on the youngest Karch brother, Jordan. The character Todd Cargill is based on a man from their hometown that was the subject of the brothers' cruel bullying when they were children. See more »

Goofs

When Young Paul fights Todd, the scene is supposed to take place in 1992, however, Jordan Karch, who plays an extra in the scene is wearing a Colorado Rockies ball cap and a TheChive.com shirt (although he is in the background and the items are quite obscure). The Rockies did not enter Major League Baseball until 1993 and the Chive is a popular Internet site that was launched in 2008. See more »

Quotes

Thomas Sheve: I don't care what my mother says, or anybody else for that matter. I'm trained to recognize a genuine threat when I see one, and this man is dangerous. Without a doubt. Does he deserve a second chance? Does he deserve mercy! Absolutely NOT! What he deserves is the same thing that poor boy got! And that's no kind of mercy at all... There's no such thing as mercy!
