Max and Hank bond at the photo store. Camille considers selling their home, moving to a condo, and travelling the world, but Zeke has just bought a fixer-upper car. Joel introduces Julia to Peet, the project architect. Sarah warns Amber about rushing into marrying Ryan. Adam wants to take over Ashes of Romes contract.

Ryan tells Sarah about his family situation. Max is removed from his yearbook photography duties. Camille confides in Julia about how Zeke is shutting her out. Julia and Joel argue about his work with Peet. Crosby manages to put a rein on Oliver Rome.

Adam visits Crosby and Jasmine with the news that hes traded Crosbys billable hours for the rights to three of Ashes of Romes songs. Adam asks Crosby to work with Ashes of Rome.
Max wanders the school taking candid photos of the students even private personal moments, like a girl crying.
Zeke freaks when a real estate comes by taking photos.
Sarah helps a tenant with a clogged toilet but causes it to geyser.

Peet frustrates Joel with changes and Julia encourages him to set boundaries despite their contract. Sarah calls asking for advice on the toilet; Joel sarcastically asks Julia what boundaries he can set with Sarah.
Adam and Crosby meets with the band and Oliver Rome just goes on a tirade about the previous label. Adam makes the offer to produce the album and while they acknowledge their lack of experience, the deal is made.
The crying girls parents have complained and Christine apologizes to the yearbook advisor that its hard for Max to read peoples emotions. He suggests Max move to layout instead of photography.
Ryan visits Sarah. Sarah tells him shes worried that he and Amber are rushing the marriage. Ryan is confused and apologizes and says hes there to fix the toilet. Sarah sheepishly leads him to apartment with the problem.
At the Luncheonette, Oliver Rome is driving Crosby crazy with creative changes. Crosby defers as following the demands of the client is Adams new paradigm for the studio.
Christina visits the photo shop to tell Max the bad news. Hank convinces Christina that layout would be wasting Maxs considerable talent.
Joel is at the site with Peet. She continues making changes and demands. Joel sets a meeting with her to discuss boundaries.
Ryan comes home and tells Amber he had an awkward day with her mom. He didnt realize Amber was having issues with Sarah. Amber confesses Sarah is projecting her marriage onto Amber and Ryan. Hes upset Amber hadnt confided in him and that Amber told Sarah about his emotional issues last year.
Ryan has broken through the bathroom wall to access a busted pipe. Sarah hovers awkwardly and he diplomatically gets her to leave.
Julia takes Victor to Zeke to work on the car. As Zeke guides Victor through reading the manual, Julia tells Camille she loves the car because its helping Victor, but Camille tells Julia she hates the car. She confesses Zeke has been shutting her out, refusing to look at a condo with her. Julie had no idea shes wanted to sell the house. Camille wants to use the money to travel and do things before theyre too old. Camille laughs that Julia would never have the same communication problems with Joel. She makes Julia promise not to discuss this with the siblings.
Joel has the dinner meeting with Peet. She takes over the conversation telling Joel its only about building homes that people want to live in.
Late at the Luncheonette, Oliver Rome is calling for revision after revision and Crosby is sick of it. Adam tries to accommodate Oliver Rome but Crosby will not have it, especially after getting a text from home. Crosby leaves.
Crosby buying diapers, finds Joel, drunk, at the supermarket bakery. Crosby drives him home as Joel eats supermarket cake and rambles on about life. They hear Elvis Burning Love on the car radio and muse about rock and roll.
The tenant is at Sarahs taking a shower. He offers to bring in his own plumber guy but Sarah tells him Ryan is family.
Christine meets with the yearbook advisor and the principal. She asks the principal to tell the advisor how much Max thrived on the Student Council. But the principal reveals to Christine how much effort the other students had to make to work with Max, and that it would not work with Max continuing as yearbook photographer.
Julia teases Joel about coming in drunk with the half eaten sheet cake on the counter. The conversation turns bad when she asks how his meeting with Peet went and he confesses that he has to make concessions to Peet to make things work in the long run. Julia returns to reminding Joel how badly hes being taken advantage of; but Joel tells her to step off and that this is his job and he knows what hes doing.
Crosby comes in and shows the band groundbreaking albums by the Beatles, Springsteen, and Elvis. All were made simply on low budgets. Crosby tells them they are a good band and Oliver Rome is a good singer, but they cant clutter it with loops and samples, so the band should record down and dirty and trust him and Adam as producers. Adam smiles and Oliver Rome agrees.
Julia goes to pick up Victor. Julia challenges Zeke about how hes been communicating with Camille. He denies any problems and tells Julia that its not her business. She starts to break down, obviously thinking about Joel.
Christina tells Max about her conversation with the principal and the advisor. Max argues that its not fair and Christina agrees with him.
Ryan goes to see Sarah. He tells her his dad died when he was 11 and his mother remarried shortly thereafter. The stepfather was abusive so Ryan left home young. He assures Sarah that he loves Amber and wants to be worthy of her. Sarah agrees. He tells her its fixed, meaning the toilet.
NEXT
Sarah still has issues about Amber and Ryan. Drew says he cannot participate in the wedding if Amber shuts out their mom. Heather encourages Christine to talk about Max at the mayoral debate.
