Horror-on-Sea - The Heebie-Jeebies
robokirk4 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this short at the Horror-on-Sea film festival in Southend-on-Sea in Essex. It's incredibly well made and I would be interested to know the budget used as I expect the film is of a higher quality than one would expect with funds available. It cleverly builds the story and when suspense turns to relief it's done with good humour. Everyone watching this was laughing out loud at the right moments. The cast are so good that you think you recognise them - the comic timing in particular of Liam is way beyond his small years and I expect he's a rising star of the future to watch out for. The film made me wonder if the book referred to actually exists, it was that believable. I would really recommend watching The Heebie-Jeebies and actually wonder if there's good premise for a feature to follow...?

I recently watched this short film at the Cryptshow Festival (Spain) and it's the best one I've seen in this year's edition. I always matter about the plot and the script and this one is definitely perfect, all of the actors were great, everything fits well... When I first saw the kids acting I was like "wow, they're acting very well" and that always give an extra point to the direction. I've been in several short films festivals and I know I will remember this short film from now on, just like I remember another excellent one which I watched back in 2007 at the Sitges Film Festival named "The ten steps". Now I have two favorite short films! Excellent!
