Circle of Confusion partner Lawrence Mattis and producer-director Hans Canosa have formed a talent incubator for bilingual and bicultural writers for the China and U.S. markets, Variety has learned exclusively.

Production-management company Circle of Confusion produces “The Walking Dead,” “Fear the Walking Dead,” “The Talking Dead,” “Powers,” “Outcast,” and “Dirk Gently.” Its recent films include “Spare Parts,” “American Ultra,” and “Mr. Right,” starring Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick.

Their year-long Resonance fellowship program will invite up to 10 emerging storytellers — who are bilingual in English and Mandarin — annually to participate in the Los Angeles salaried program with benefits. “There can never be too many programs dedicated to discovering and developing diverse writing talent,” said Canosa.

Banshee Actress Amber Midthunder Joins The Cast Of FX's Legion As 'Kerry'

22 February 2016 2:10 PM, PST | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Joining Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza, Jean Smart and Jeremie Harris in FX's Legion will be Amber Midthunder (Banshee, Spare Parts, Sunshine Cleaning) as a character named Kerry. Deadline describes her as “a woman of action with a childlike sense of wonder. A true savant, Kerry has lived a sheltered, but never dull life.” It's possible this Kerry will turn out to be an established Marvel Comics character, but for the time being we'll have to assume she's been created for the show. It's not even clear whether Stevens' take on David Haller will be tied to the X-Men universe or not - let alone Charles Xavier's son as he is in the comics. Legion is set to kick off production early next month, and is expected to premiere on FX sometime during the fall. »
