Glad she is not a boy

Warning: Spoilers
These five minutes are the music video for the Beyoncé Knowles single "If I Were a Boy" from 7 years ago already. The director is Jake Nava who has already worked with her during the Destiny's Child days. This is why I found the weak outcome here especially disappointing. I like the artist. Beyoncé is a great singer in my opinion and apart from her range I also like the sound of her voice, which is much more important to me anyway. But in this one here, she really cannot prove anything. This is just another music video that obviously was intended to show how female she is in the truest sense of the word and how much power she has as a woman. Apart from that, I also found the song's contents really underwhelming. There are okay moments here and there like the transformation near the end, but all in all it's just a weak story that does not deserve a film in my opinion. And what's even worse, occasionally there are moments when girl power accidentally (or maybe not) transforms into hostility towards men. The attempt of giving this an artistic touch by keeping it black-and-white was not successful. Certainly among Beyoncé's weaker works and I don't recommend it.

Well Crafted

The lyrics and the songs blends well into each other. There's nothing indicating about feminism anything else that people has stated before. Clearly, from the song and video, that there are double standards in relationships and it can come from either sex and type of relationship (engaged, dating, or married). It can happen to anyone in a relationship. I do recommend this video as it's worth the time to watch.
