The Big Fat Quiz of the 90s

Warning: Spoilers
This edition of the show that plays out like a pub quiz was part of the series of programmes with questions about events in the 1980s and the 1990s, and this was a great show to watch and have fun with. Hosted by Jimmy Carr, with celebrity panellists in three teams: Jonathan Ross and Jo Brand, Lee Mack and Sue Perkins, and Richard Ayoade and Bob Mortimer. This quiz focused on the 1980s with all sorts of questions to answer about the decade of headlines, music, television, movies, lifestyle (fads, fashions, technology and toys), adverts and their slogans or catchphrases, people and scandals. These questions are asked as they are, with video and sound clips, with pictures (including Say What You See), and by celebrity and mystery guests on screen or in the studio, so it really does feel like a proper quiz that you can take part in. Events in the 1990s that were questioned and joked about, and mentioned (or pictured) included: the launch of the internet, Mr. Motivator, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Shaun Rider swearing live on TFI Friday with Chris Evans, Björk, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Friends, the book "Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus", The X-Files, Jurassic Park, Lara Croft, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman married, David Beckham and Victoria Adams or Posh and Becks married, Free Willy, Baywatch, Mystic Meg, Tim Henman, Oasis, Resident Evil, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, the Spice Girls, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Eurostar, Robson & Jerome, Phil and Grant Mitchell in EastEnders, John Major, the opening of Euro Disney (Disneyland Paris), the Queen describing 1992 as an "annus horribilis", Dolly the Sheep being the first animal successfully cloned, MC Hammer, The KLF, U2, "Livin' la Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin, Gladiators, Xena: Warrior Princess, The Word, Changing Rooms, Ground Force, Anthea Turner making the Thunderbirds Tracy Island model, the launch of Channel 5, Noel's House Party at the gunge tank, Deidre wrongly arrested in Coronation Street sparking the "Free Deidre" campaign, Braveheart, Speed, Edward Scissorhands, Titanic, Tamagotchi, Furbi, Rollerblades, Boyzone, genetically modified food, road rage, "Song 2" by Blur, Matthew Kelly and Pat Sharp at the opening of Euro Disney, the statue of Michael Jackson on the River Thames, Tony Blair, the Angel of the North, the launch of the National Lottery, Girl Power mania, alcopops (like Barcadi Breezer, Reef, WKD, and Smirnoff Ice), platform shoes and boots, the vert first text message sent ("Merry Christmas"), the "exquisite tastes" Ferrero Rocher advert, the Impulse bodyspray advert, Tim Berners-Lee inventing the World Wide Web, supermodels, the autobiography of Vanilla Ice, Demi Moore nude and pregnant on the cover of Vanity Fair, Macaulay Culkin winning the MTV Movie Award for Best Screen Kiss for My Girl, The Word, the Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee sex tape, Hugh Grant caught getting a blowjob from prostitute Divine Brown, Mrs. Doubtfire, Brian Harvey sacked from East 17 for endorsing drug use (and being run over by his own car in 2005), the Alien Autopsy film hoax (the Ant & Dec comedy film, starring Jimmy Carr, is also mentioned), Linda Tripp revealing President Bill Clinton having an affair and blowjobs from Monica Lewinsky, "Everything I Do (I Do It for You)" by Bryan Adams being the longest Number One of the 90s lasting 16 weeks (the UK's longest consecutive UK Number One, "Love Is All Around" by Wet Wet Wet was second at 15 weeks), the most bankable actor of the 90s being Tom Hanks (in Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Toy Story, Saving Private Ryan, and Toy Story 2), and the most bankable actress of the 90s being Julia Roberts (in Pretty Woman, Hook, My Best Friend's Wedding, Runaway Bride, and Notting Hill). Other celebrity and special mystery guests in the show included the children of Goldsmith Community Hall in Lewisham who act out a well known news story, Charles Dance who reads passages from a celebrity autobiography of the decade, Derrick Errol Evans better known as Mr. Motivator, Goldie, sportswoman Sally Gunnell, "MMM Bop" singers Hanson (Taylor Hanson, Isaac Hanson and Zac Hanson), Martyn Lewis who reads news related to lyrics from a song of the decade, Melinda Messenger, East 17 singer Tony Mortimer, Richard West better known as Mr. C from The Shamen, This Life actress Daniela Nardini, Andi Peters, mystery guest Todd Watkins who famously kissed an old woman on The Word in The Hopefuls aka the "I'll do anything to be on television" section, and Diane Youdale aka Jet from Gladiators. The jokes and the questions are what make this show so much fun, they always choose the right celebrity panellists, and it works as a funny way to reminisce on the events of the decade, a great comedy quiz show. Very good!
