Along came a writer and sat down beside her (WCTH) and frightened the fans away.
I couldn't even finish this episode. Such sloppy, terrible writing.
Firstly, at the end of Season 10, Lucus only ran for Governor to save the town of Hope Valley, while Elizabeth encouraged him to do so. Basically, she tossed him to the wolves. The season ends with the entire town hailing Lucus as the hero of Hope Valley
Secondly, the character of Elizabeth not only has carried the show all these years, but it is the bones of the show. So why are we destroying her character and her goodness?
Thridly, Season 11 begins with one hero of Hope Valley, and it is not Lucas, but Nathan. What is he a hero for? The fans who make up "Team Nathan" may be swallowing this, but fans of the show (WCTH) are not swallowing this tripe, so now in episode 4, the writers are trying to balance the scale, by demeaning Lucas's character.
These writers have muddied the waters so much that you can't tell right from wrong and good from bad.
Elizabeth's behavior is shameless, and we never see the story line which should have followed such behavior. Where was the shock in the residents of Hope Valley? Where was the truthful common sense approach, which Rosemary usually displays? Where is the moment Elizabeth realizes that she has treated Lucus terribly, faces her students, their parents and her friends with honestly and remorse for her shameless behavior?
Are you kidding me...Henry was told by Elizabeth that hitting a man in the saloon was inappropriate behavior, and he should talk to her students and tell them so; but now it is acceptable to treat Lucas the way she has, without feeling any shame? Oh please give the writers their walking papers.
It feel like an episode of the Twilight Zone. Maybe we need to start calling it "The Hallmark Zone", where lives continue on in a distorted dimension.
Just for the record: I have never been team Nathan or team Lucas. I have only been Team WCTH. It is about the show...the story line ...the summation and completion of a well told tail. What a shame to see it dismembered.
I am so done, there is no way to fix this mess, and it has rendered the entire series as disingenuous.
