The Japanese elements were so unique. With that came a fun and unique soundtrack. The composition was brilliantly visual. I loved the colors against the desert pallet. The big burly wrestlers, so sweet, and that was a surprise! So many great little pieces of authenticity in the native characters. great humor -- so many hysterical moments. The dog bits were such a delight. I loved the opening credits, very charming, which foretold the tone of the film. And on top of all that, I was captivated by a powerful story about a girl trapped in her own life. This has all the makings of a really fun cult classic. I would love to see a theater of people watching, dressed up like the characters. so fun! The world needs more fun silliness filled with authentic truth. Well done!

Saw the Dog Wedding in preview in Boston...what a fun night! It seemed that this movie had something for everyone. A beautiful businesswoman, a lovable wrestler and two lonely Bulldogs. It covered the struggles of relationships and romance, both human and dog, while it incorporated wrestling and business wranglings into the mix. I enjoyed seeing how two unlikely people could be brought together by their pets and the twists and turns that their encounters take, all the while providing insights into the dilemma of a pickle factory. This movie shows how the search for happiness can cross many lines and prevail through their pets. A funny, quirky and unconventional experience.

We had an honor to attend the premiere of the movie in New York City. Everyone associated with this film was such a pleasure to meet. Matthew Bloom is big sweetheart and loved his interaction with Rosalie on and off the screen. An honor to have my Bocker decked out in his tux pictured in the movie.
Total enjoyment for everyone who came to see the movie with us. A pure delight for wrestling fans and dog lovers alike. Engaging story and great interaction among the cast.

This is a movie that has something for everyone.....relationships, dogs, wrestling, humor, business drama, jazz, and many unique characters. The movie is rare in the fact that it has ability to feel independent and quirky but appeal to a very mass audience. The movie is set in Arizona and involves a professional wrestler who meets a German business woman through their pet bulldogs. She is in Arizona on business to potentially shutdown a local food manufacturing facility and layoff the local workers. Her father is an overbearing CEO who demands her to only focus on the company. As you can imagine all the elements intertwine in a charming colorful story. I think viewers will enjoy this movie, yet appreciate that it is refreshingly creative and unique.

We attended the Boston Premiere and fully enjoyed the film and its off-beat look at dog owners and relationships. The storyline moved well and the characters were skillfully cast. Hopefully there will be a sequel and we can further enjoy another episode. It does not hurt that we love Bullies!!! The crossover relationship from the world of professional wrestling and that of a young single professional woman was very entertaining and the two lead characters carried it off very well. We have seen Matt Bloom as his professional namesakes in the WWE and were very surprised by how talented he is as an actor out of the ring. His counterpart, Rosalie Thomass, was a natural in playing the love involvement in The Manimal's life, especially with their love of English Bulldogs. They carried off their relationship naturally and had the audience rooting for them. Well done!!!

Matt Bloom is HUGE when you stand next to him in person, and Rosalie Thomass is charming and not uptight at all :) Our own Lulu of Little Bites of the Big Apple blog was featured in the opening credits as a part of their pawsome Dog Wedding photo contest.
The chemistry between the two characters on the screen is striking, and very unique and engaging plot keeps you guessing what will happen next. The dialogues are witty, and dogs are a major part of the play.

Highly recommend this film to dog lovers, wrestling fans, and general cinephiles. It's a fun and quirky rom-com about a clash of cultures and two pet-owners who go to extremes to celebrate their love for animals and eventually find romance. Set in the mystical landscape of Arizona, the story takes you on a peyote trip and underscores a need to support the disenfranchised Native American population. There's even a skosh of Japanese culture represented in the musice score and cosplay. Did I mention a pickle factory? Very eccentric film. Especially loved how it reverses gender roles of the two protagonists without stereotyping. The title sequence with dozens of dog photos in fancy tuxedos and wedding gowns was very well done. Can't wait to see the sequel!
Great movie, made me want to go out and get a dog!

What a fun wonderful movie! I attended the NYC premier and was very pleasantly surprised about the fun and creativity seen throughout the movie. I've never classified my self as a dog lover, more of a "tolerator," but I left the movie loving dogs, embracing the improbable, and feeling uplifted after a nice and fresh romantic comedy.
A few surprising twists and turns kept me guessing until the end, and the chemistry between the actors was great- especially the beautiful Rosalie Thomass and the giant-of-a-man Matt Bloom.
Thanks to the writers and producers for giving us a real treat! I hope to see more of their work soon.

I have seen a lot of movies in my day! But a dog wedding? Come on! Matt bloom who was once know as Albert, A-Train, Big daddylicious and so many more names in the squared circle is probably the GREATEST ACTOR OF ALL TIME. I mean the guy is just too good for his role. This is a heartfelt masterpiece, did I cry a little bit? Maybe. But that just shows that this is the greatest romcom of all time. The jokes in this are perfect, the romance is out of this world and the guy owns a pickle factory or something like that..

I have nothing but good things to say about this film. I went in for the dogs and came out with so much more. I thought the acting was great, especially from Rosalie Thomass, she had humor, beauty, grace. Matthew Bloom was so natural and the father played by Bernhard Schultz was perfect. I have watched it 3 times with a few different friends and we all loved it, I should have purchased it instead of rent it because it is one of those films you can watch whenever you need a good pick me up!
I am a film buff and love all types of films as long as they are quality. There was a lot of depth I didn't expect to find from the name and the cover but it all makes sense. I don't want to spoil it but there is a fantasy scene which is an incredible surreal sequence I will never forget. Just for that scene this movie is a winner for me.

Good natured clever film with an eclectic mix of characters creates a cartoon like film made for 13 year olds and above. The mix of a professional wrestler and a German award winning actress combined with the local actors and non actors of Arizona makes for a really endearing, funny, and a little crazy film. Somehow within a silly movie about a dog wedding there is a thoughtful story about culture, capitalism and breaking free from your parents' expectations and living your dreams! You don't get this from main stream romantic comedies that's for sure.
So many details in this film that make it really worth watching again and again. The music reminded me a little of the 80's in a cool way. It's an independent film so has it's quirky flaws but several scenes are brilliant.

The Dog Wedding is an intelligent and funny romantic comedy about a wrestler who meets a German pickle factory owner in the dog run. He suggests the dogs get married. What ensues is an engaging story of romance, an overbearing father and a pickle factory experiencing a corporate takeover. It made me laugh and even cry. The very concept of an enormous American wrestler getting together with a German pickle entrepreneur coupled with their bulldogs is downright amusing. The cinematography was beautiful. The acting by both professionals and everyday people was outstanding. It is a wholesome movie with a point of view. There were some scenes in the desert that reminded me of Antonioni. Kudos to the director for that.

Super fun, sneaky smart romcom about mismatched people – a blonde bombshell pickle company exec and a giant tattooed pro wrestler – who meet at the dog park and discover they have a lot more in common. Film breezes along as an easy good time with bulldogs, canine wedding planning, wrestling matches, an awesome Beni-hana cosplay date, and funky bassa nova score. But best is how small details add up and you believe this odd couple throwing a dog wedding(!) makes total sense. The acting is top notch, with the revelation being Matt Bloom (WWE's Prince Albert), who was a totally natural sweetheart of a guy on and off screen (we met him at the NYC charity event for Long Island Bulldog Rescue). Rosalie Thomass is great as the engineer caught between The Manimal and her CEO Dad (ferociously funny Bernhard Schutz). The Germans all speak perfect English. Plus a real person named Queen Kong is wrestler's mother! Add in the Native American pickle factory managers, bodybuilders, wrestlers, and desert mystics
and you have a truly original good time of movie.

Do you need a laugh or some cheering up? This is one of those charming offbeat heartwarming romantic comedies that wouldn't surprise me if over time became a cult classic. Now just the thought of the mixture of a bulldogs in love, a wedding, pickles, wrestlers, German entrepreneurs, and a subtle homage to the avant-garde film images of the 60's and 70's makes me laugh. This is not the end of the quirkiness. The cast is a blend of actors and non actors with good chemistry sprinkled with great music, remarkable Japanese musicians and an Arizonian backdrop that all comes surprisingly together. Maybe I'm just sentimental but the story even brings you to a happy tear ending. I have to say that Matt Bloom as one of the leads was wonderful and you can't say enough good things about Rosalie Thomass. Special recognition should go to writers and director who made this work. I love this movie.

Sitting in the front row for the New York City premiere of The Dog Wedding movie, nothing appeared out of the norm: These are my people, I mused. These people know that dogs are family, they bring them to posh cinematic happenings, and once they've walked the red pink carpet with their coutured canines, they settle into theater seats. Displaying your affection (and addiction) to canines is the new norm, and thank DOG for that!
Jason Hurwitz gets it. Matthew Bloom knows it. And Rosalie Thomass has recently discovered it. The Dog Wedding movie is making its rounds on a city-by-city tour before its release to the general public on, yep, you guessed it: Valentine's Day 2016. This isn't your bark-out-loud rom-com for dog lovers that the movie's trailer and associated promotional posters want you to believe it is. Sure, there are dogs in it, as the vehicles that unite a love story of a female German pickle entrepreneur and a hulky muscleman who body slams and pile drives his way into her heart. A modern day romance with a few dogs as catalysts for Cupid's arrow.
The movie stars Matthew Bloom as wrestler Matthew "The Manimal" Pierce. The German businesswoman, Ulrika Schmidt, played by German actress Rosalie Thomass, is sent to the states by her domineering father to shut down a family-owned pickle factory.
In my interview with Hurwitz prior to seeing movie, my expectations were geared more for canine giggles and puns, but the flick is far more than that.

Absolutely hugely hysterical. Laugh-out-loud funny. No one has made a movie like this. I mean no one. No spoilers here. I mean, you have dogs getting married, what more do you need? And this is a thing, apparently. I mean dogs getting married? Whoever heard of such a thing?! But it's out there, people having their dogs married.
If you are a dog person, you will love this movie. If you are not a dog person, you will love this movie. It's fun for the whole family. Not just you, everyone.
