Storyline

Ex-cop Angelo Vasquez, reformed since ten years but unemployed, was murdered in the home of his fiancée, Emma Briggs. She ran, took hostages in a dentist practice and asks only for Castle, whom she claims to trust, unlike the police, to prove her innocence of the murder. Becket now is the one officially out of the loop, yet allowed to work with the team. They find out incriminating elements from Emma's past, yet castle keeps finding interpretations potentially in her favor while believing in her being framed, so elaborately it requires brains and clout, which both turn up. Trivia

The lead hostage negotiator is introduced as Sgt. Roman, a likely nod to the character, Danny Roman, played by Samuel L Jackson in The Negotiator (1998). Other pieces of dialogue are suggestive of this homage. See more »

Goofs

At approximately five minutes in, there is an outdoor (street) shot which was obviously shot in L.A. However, in the shot were NYPD officers, NYPD police vehicles and, looking very closely, a LAPD black and white. There should not be any LAPD police cruisers in "New York." See more »

Quotes

Kevin Ryan: She shot you in the chest and you still think she's innocent?
Richard Castle: No. She shot me in the chest and now I know she's innocent.
