Very Compelling Story of the Possible Real Location of Mount Sinai
jwoolbright-596714 November 2019
I was fascinated by this story of two adventurers....one a Christian, the other I don't believe is....who took on the task of tracking down the possible locations of biblical sites relating to Mount Sinai. I was troubled by the deception they used to gain entrance to the Saudi Arabia. It is a disturbing fact of this tale and I am not going to minimize it. It is what it is....and they were up front in the movie about it. I also could have done without so much of the dramatization of the story. I am more of a "Just the Facts, Ma'am." sort of person. I found the footage of the actual places they visited quite interesting and found it plausible that these could indeed be the biblical sites they mentioned. Perhaps most interesting to me personally was the submerged (and now much eroded) land bridge that might have been the Red Sea crossing site. I had never heard of this before. It makes sense how impossible some other proposed crossing sites would have been, involving a steep climb down the edge to the bottom of the water basin and the steep climb back up on the other side. A submerged land-bridge that was uncovered and dried out by the wind God sent could have made the crossing possible for the huge numbers of Israelites of that day. I enjoyed this movie and recommend it for others interested in the topic. I am not an archaeologist and cannot make a judgment on the validity of the finds, but the case they made is compelling.

Ok...

Warning: Spoilers
Love that they use the Bible. Not thrilled that they started off committing a crime by forging the King of Saudi Arabia's signature and using it in a document to get what they want....

Ethics?
mlago-28-2130826 June 2023
I have climbed Moses Mountain in Sinai. I had read enough to know that it was probably not the real Mt. Sinai. It's not hard to believe the mountain these two men visited is the real deal. My problem is their lack of ethics. They deceived the Saudi Consulate to gain entry into the country. Then they entered this archaeological site without permission. How is God honored by this?

(I'm viewing this from their Christian perspective.) From that same perspective, if God could part the Red Sea, he didn't need the road they discovered.

They also did not seem to understand that Moses is also a Muslim prophet. Saudi Arabia would have no reason to hide it.

One of the best documentaries I have seen describing a difficult journey in search of truth.
zayrocks-341923 September 2020
This is easily one of the best documentaries I have seen. It gives a full description of the journey these two gentlemen had to take in order to find the real Mt. Sinai described in scripture. They give enough evidence through pictures, video and personal description of their journey throughout the documentary. It is inspiring to see two people risk their lives to make such a historic discovery. Finding the real Mt. Sinai legitimizes the bible as an accurate historic document encompassing many authors and people throughout history, rather than some "religious book" made up by someone. I find it appalling that other reviewers gave this documentary a 1. It makes me believe they did not see the same documentary as I did.

Interesting movie

Sad commentary by some. Some comments are very hateful. So sad for some people. It was interesting and if they had read the Bible maybe they would be more tolerant.

Stolen Valor
adamgreco-2868618 November 2022
Aside from the obvious, as pointed out by wmarshall-46436, that there is not one image of these 2 actually anywhere near Saudi Arabia, these guys are trying to steal Ron Wyatt's work. Look him up and you'll see that even though this documentary is really true, it wasn't discovered by these 2 guys but by Ron Wyatt, the real Indy they're trying to impersonate. The information contained in here is accurate and detailed, but it has been presented by 2 guys who admit they used fraud to supposedly enter saudi arabia. They actually say at the beginning that some guy went there already and had his footage confiscated but don't give Ron Wyatt his due credit. It's time he got his credit, God rest his soul. So watch it, yes, but understand that all the amazing things you hear are true about the real Mt. Sinai but that the messengers are stealing the glory.

Turned it off 8 minutes into it
ericfleming-2825311 November 2020
Sorry. Pseudoscience just isn't my thing. These bible documentaries giving "proof" of something all seem to have the same format. A shred of debatable evidence, a researcher that no credible institution will fund, trouble with the local government, then getting shut down over some dubious political intrigue and asked to leave the country. And of course not proving anything at the end of it. That's called a cliffhanger. Needless to say, I've seen my fair share of these types of "documentaries" and find them un enlightening, predictable and just boring. Felt sorry for John Rhys-Davies. He must've needed some cash.

A Great Documentary on a very intriguing subject
nseducator11 May 2023
It blows my mind how many reviewers have given this doc a 1-3 star out of sheer anti-religious bias. One guy even said he only watched the first 8 minutes before giving his authentic and "thorough" review. Give it a chance people, it actually gives some very reasonable and natural/scientific/historical data and points to validate a Hebrew exodus out of Egypt. If not for any religious value at least you could glean historical and/or scientific insight from it. It's also remarkable to note that the Saudis are very adamant and careful about not letting this landmark and area be accessible to the public, which in itself begs many questions.

As of a specific commenter, your rhetoric was Very religiously intolerant. Slanders and attacks Christian's and Americans. Xenophobic and nationalist nonsense and useless as a review on the actual film. Brought nothing of value to the discussion, only hate.

Terrible
maryness-6368727 May 2018
Worst movie, maybe, ever. The main guy, "Bob Cornuke" appropriates culture, and is a wannabe Indiana Jones. Seriously, this is like a moving headshot of him, and he's ugly, too. I can't believe you dared to defile the bible with your narcissism. The movie also lacks any real evidence. There's no way any of these things could last up to 2000 years. Very unscientific. Used to respect some biblical scientists before this. I actually lost my faith because of the stupidity of this film.

Overall, probably wouldn't watch it if you like common sense, good films, good looking men, or God.

Very Cool

You know it's the real Mount Sinai, because the Saudi's defend it and don't let anyone in to study it.

Almost propaganda with many holes
mrhuzaifaabhi15 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This documentary is good for what it is - a Christian proselytising film. There are many holes in the account and an obvious admission to committing fraud by forging a Saudi governmental letter and criminal trespass on secured state property (but the ends justify the means right?). The holes in their story include the detail of the mountain which they claim to be Mt Sinai and counter arguments for their claims. Such as seeing the 'burnt' rocks and immediately concluding that it must have been God's presence in the form of fire whilst dismissing the obvious volcanic presence due to the geographic location. Also, they seem to forget that its been thousands of years since the time of Moses and so seeing landmarks such as palm trees and erected petroglyphs are not proof for confirming the validity of biblical records as those landmarks would have most likely disappeared over time. Ultimately, it was a criminal quest by the pair who set out to try and prove themselves right by any means necessary, even if they were wrong.

"Documentary" is it??
wmarshall-4643630 July 2021
Yes I am a Christian, I watched the whole thing and I want my time back! The title should be "Two guys got high and made up a stupid story". What kind of documentary doesn't bother to film their actions? It's a reenactment of an obviously made up trip by a couple of losers who want to look cool. Using stock footage and absolutely no video evidence that they even went to these places or talked to the locals. What a couple of ****************** they should be fined for this.

They made this whole thing up.
sabrinamichaels127 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Let me start by saying that I am a Christian and fully believe the events of the OT took place. What I don't believe is this documentary.

Spoiler warning The forgery they used to get into Saudi Arabia is ridiculous. I 100% doubt that would work in any way.

There is not one picture of them in Saudi. Not even a ticket from the airline. They mentioned using night vision in the film. They just brought it in their carry on? Yeah right.

Everything that they were looking for was right there. No digging (which was good, since they didn't have any archaeological equipment). 3000+ years have gone by, you'd think some things might have changed.

These two didn't record a single finding nor did they bring anything back for carbon testing, etc. I half expected them to find a carving that said, "Moses & Aaron we're here." Maybe some fingerprints under a rock. Or even better, hair samples with DNA. 🤣 I don't disagree with them that regular people can't make discoveries. They just don't make them easily and without proof. I've watched archaeological documentaries before. Evidence is hard to find. Teams dig and dig for months to find a clay pot. They claimed the Israelites pots we're sitting right by the mountain.

Honestly it was a hot mess express. These kinds of movies are horrible for Christianity. They make Christians look crazy.

Dubious
samwiseghanjee12 May 2021
Turned it off 16 minutes in after Prof Ken Durham told us that 'god supernaturally parted the waters,' all with a straight face. I was hoping to find solid archaeological and geographical evidence for the exodus, not more dubious information to help bolster the fantastical elements of the Bible.

Interesting theory
spamalottamus6 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Despite not being Christian, I do believe parts of the Bible is rooted in historical facts. People argue against it just as they argue against oral traditions, only later to find the latter contain much historical truth and accuracy. I do not discount those arguments out of hand, but one must go into this sort of documentary with an open mind.

That being one, this could've been much better: I agree with the detractors about what looked like stock photography, as well as the issue with illegal entry into Saudi Arabia. I would've liked to have seen more actual footage & less, "We did this," & "We found that." As far as the petroglyphs at the alleged altar go, those could've easily been tens of thousands of years old, the remnants of much older nomadic cultures, perhaps predating Egypt. But, those can't be carbon-dated, so it would, as noted at the end of the film, be necessary for professional archaeologists & anthropologists to closely examine the site to shed more light. I would also liked to have seen an impartial geologic review of samples taken from the blackened mountaintop. Without specific analysis, one could speculate anything, especially a person approaching the site from a firm religious POV.
