Not enough money

No pun intended - this has quite a few good actors in it ... and also Til and his daughter. Now now .. it is easy to make fun of them. And I reckon he may not be as bad as I and other make him. And he also kind of is a glutton for punishment. Now I assume he didn't write the stuff himself, but having his daughter (film and real life) walk into the room while he is in bed with a lover ... well if you never heard of the word cringe, I do not have to explain it to you after you experienced this.

That al being said, the movie has some fine action scenes - I mean the movie itself does not make much sense, but it is made for TV and part of an overall thing that runs on German television for years ... Til reprised this detective role at least twice that I am aware of .. if you are fan of one or more of the actors ... well there may be something good for you somewhere in all this mess ...

Nick's Law – Bounty

As Nick drives his ex-wife he realises that something is wrong; there is a bomb under her seat! They manage to escape before it explodes but he doesn't suspect for one minute that the danger is over. It turns out that senior members of the Astan crime family have put a price on his head because he put most of their senior members in prison or the morgue while ending their people smuggling operation. Now more junior members of the family are planning to smuggle a huge shipment of meth amphetamine into Hamburg. Nick and his partner Yalcin seek the advice of Enno Kromer who has been hunting a rival drug gang for years. If it wasn't bad enough that the Astan's had but a bounty on Nick's head one of them has hospitalised his girlfriend, Hanna, who is also the prosecutor… Nick is determined to get the man responsible. As the story progresses things get worse for Nick; he knows who attacked Hanna but can't prove it, then he ends up in hospital after a fight involving a nail gun!

This was another thrilling episode of 'Nick's Law'; in many ways it feels more like a film than a TV show thanks to the amount of action; some of it fairly brutal. Even though we know Nick is sure to survive it is made clear that even though he is the protagonist he isn't safe from serious injury and his colleagues are in danger too. The action feels real and is shocking at time; most notably when Hanna is attacked even though we only see the first couple of punches. The way a child is shown to be caught up in the violence is somewhat disturbing; especially when a villain tries to persuade him to shoot Nick as he lies in his hospital bed. There are a few lighter moments for example in the opening scene Nick's daughter walks in on her father and Hanna are having sex… made more awkward by the fact that Hanna is handcuffed to the bed! The plot isn't complicated but still has lots of interesting aspects; not least the dubious motives behind Kromer's actions. The conclusion of the story is exciting as two separate confrontations take place and the drug shipment arrives. The cast does a fine job; in particular Til Schweiger does a fine job in the lead role and Fahri Yardim is a lot of fun as Yalcin. Overall this is an exciting episode that fans of police thrillers should enjoy.
